How much should I be getting?

June 18, 2014

I would like some advice on payments for my children from their father.

He currently earns £44,800 PA and has one of our children over night once a week.

Could you please let me know some indication of how much a month he should be paying?

Thank you for your assistance.

He could earn £400,44k but it’s what he can AFFORD to pay not a % of his earnings that the CSA should help with. Instead of punishing a NRP the more they earn the more they pay the CSA should work on the same principles as Child Benefit, a set amount for 1, 2, 3 children etc. That way NRP’s would see it as fairer, and if they do happen to have loads of money as disposable income they may feel more inclined to treat their kids! Just because a NRP is on a certain wage it doesn’t mean automatically they can afford to have 15, 20, 25% deducted for CSA payments…I mean realistically could ANYONE afford to live minus 15/20/25% of their wages?? I doubt it very much.
So my rant over….ask him what he can afford and don’t involve the CSA. If he lies and makes up a low amount then it’s him has to live with himself. And the kids will find out and form their own opinions later on in their lives. If he is telling the truth then it’s a win / win situation isn’t it.
