Can the CSA demand this money from me?

September 30, 2010

I found out that I had a daughter in September 2007 she was 10 years old. I found out from the csa. They took £40 ound a week out of my wages for a few months. I then got a letter to say that the other party (mother) didn’t want to continue with the claim and it had been stopped. I still had to pay arrears from June 2007 when she made the cliam even though I didn’t find out until september.

They told me I owed them £1800.00 and would have to pay £140.00 a week. I then lost my job and have just started work again but have another daughter now and was wondering how much a week they would expect me to pay and are they aright doing this.

I have a daughter who i haven’t seen since she was 2 years old i was paying the csa but her mother did a moon light wonder. After driving around one day working as a rep, i came across her we keeped in touch which was great but after several months she did it again.

I heard she had move to Hull. (i’m from Nottingham) So 0ne month ago i get a letter its from the csa they want back pay and the goverment want £5800 in total around £8500 and to carry on paying, the best bit i have 2years to pay the arrears. I now have a family and a son and i know this is going to become a nightmare.

CSA wrongfully took money from me after I already paid them

September 29, 2010

My girlfriend applied for welfare, for her and her daugther, ater we had our baby and CSA started sending me letters stating that I would have to start paying child support and that I was a non-custodial parent.

My girlfriend informed them that she didn’t want welfare for our baby, just her and her oldest daughter, but they told her she cant have one child on welfare and not the other if they live in the same house, so we contacted the CSA office went in and talked to them. My girlfriend told them that she didn’t want them coming after me for child support because I already was taking care of my daughter, so they said they would collect $200.00 dollars a month from me for the months that they paid for my daughter. That was fine, but then they started saying I would have to pay $1500.00 a month for the they paid my girlfriend, so she requested for them to discontinue her case, and they said they couldn’t because of the monthly QR-7 are due every three months hers was already Read more

Where did these arrears come from?

September 29, 2010

3 weeks ago the csa started to take out of my weekly wage £61?

Rather shocked at this as i have been duly exempt from paying csa due to the amount of access time i had with my children, puzzeld at this and completly unaware as had no contact from csa whats ever…when quried this with the csa they said my ex wife had put in a claim for my youngest daughter whom may i add no longer lives at home and is 22 next birthday, and hasnt lived at home for a whole year now.

Puzzeled greatly at this thinking my case was now closed csa said that she has claimed for 2 years of my daughter’s life from when she was 16 or so?? Still puzzled, I asked the csa why wasnt i informed of this so i could let them know of my financial situation at the time of the claim ?? The CSA promply say they sent me a letter to an address where i havn’t lived for 15yrs!! – saying my ex says she Read more

Advice on the enforcement of csa arrears

September 28, 2010

I have just received an enforcement letter to pay arrears of 3985 or csa will take me to court within 7 days they did not inform of the decision they had taken.

During the last 3 years 2007 -2009 I have been abroad for 15 months. I sent documents to csa to prove this and by law I am not liable to pay csa, they confirmed receipt of these documents 4 months ago.

I called their office many times and they have not been of any assistance to me in this matter. Could you please advise me as to what to do now.

Thank you.

CSA loves fathers who are working

September 28, 2010

Thankfully, my son is 22 years old and living with his friends now. However, when his mother and I separated, I took on all the matrimonial debts, paid a voluntary amount of maintenance and maintained good contact. This was in 1994 when I was a serving Police Officer.

The CSA left me alone for 3 years, then hit me with a demand for £10,500 maintenance. I had kept records and managed to negotiated this down to £4,000. This I have now managed to settle. My point is; I suffered years of mistakes, weak reactions by my MP, a next to useless ICE review, obstruction by my employers who were happy to deduct hundreds of pounds from my salary. I set up a network for people in a similar position in the Force and was utterly deluged by requests for advice and help (I supported one colleague at a Tribunal which was a total waste of time).

The CSA evidently love people (usually fathers) in jobs with guaranteed incomes, especially Read more

New Fathers 4 Justice stages protest at CSA offices

September 27, 2010

Campaigners for the New Fathers 4 Justice Group staged a protest at the CSA’s offices in Dudley, Birmingham.

Staff were confronted by a group of around a dozen protesters as they showed up for work on 20th September, and say that they were sworn at and accused of being “child abusers”.

Officers from the local police force were on hand to prevent any attempts by members of the group to scale the building, and according to one demonstrator, Jeremy Pogue, their presence prevented them from entering the offices.

CSA staff member tells fathers to commit suicide

September 26, 2010

This week we posted a story direct to our Facebook page about the New Fathers 4 Justice protest that took place in Dudley. The protest post created a number of comments on our Facebook page, including one from someone called Jamie Smith, who suggested that the fathers involved in the protest were trying to avoid paying for their children and how he’d like to see them throw themselves off a very tall building.

This was very unpleasant, but as this website found out, Jamie actually works for the Child Support Agency. He works for the CSA in Belfast, and he frequents our Facebook page posting comments about how non-resident parents shouldn’t have had kids if they can’t pay for them. His most offensive comment reads thus:

“what a joke – a load of blokes who cudnt keep their pants on and expect to get away without paying. Id pay some of them to jump off some ver tall buildings with their batman suits on – then we’ll see how man they are lol”

We’re disgusted by this man’s comments and his attitude towards fathers, yet he seems typical of the sort of person who works for the CSA. Hopefully the CSA will take action against him for his offensive and hurtful comments towards a sector of society that is already under immense pressure, and a number of fathers have already taken their own lives as a direct result of the CSA. People like Jamie already have blood on their hands; his outburst merely goes to show that some of the CSA staff are proud of that fact.

Here’s his comment from the Facebook page – please become a fan of the page if you haven’t already, and you can benefit from even more advice and news about the CSA.

Should my child be forced to see her father?

September 26, 2010

I am a 19 year old single mother. I was in a volient realtionship and became pregnant, i was bullied and physicaly abbused through the realtionship, and my daugther ended up getting throwen across a room when 2 months old.

I walked away from the realtionship but my daugthers father went to court seeking contact. He was granted it for an hour every saturday in a contact center. i was worried from the start as i was trying to stop the contact until my daugther was old enough to speak before she went to contact.

Anyway 17 weeks has went by and my daugther will not go near him, everytime she is sent down the hall she is screaming and crying, and it keeps going back to court and the jugde has only recently stopped the contact while social services investigate him because he was beating up his younger brother. But i feel like no one is listening to me i am trying to get help to protect my daughter from her father as he is very volient and has done numerous things that has caused a lot of pain to me.

The courts are going to have a hearing and he could have contact on his own terms and he is working and doesnt pay any money towards my daugther and i have had to pay over 100 pounds for transport to get my daugther up and down the contact center and he doesnt even offer 5 pounds a week.
