My husband has been sent to jail by the CSA
At the time of writing this my partner is in jail, serving 42 days for the irregular payment of his child support, it took me 5 days to find out which prison he had actually been taken to, and during those five days i came up against nothing but brick walls.
the late payments had been made before the actuall issue of the warrant, but does that make any difference, no of course not, this is the csa we are up against.
hauled out of b ed at 0225am, carted off like a criminal, put into an already crowded prison, i thought this was 2009, and we were living in great britain.
to add insult to injury, it would appear that when you are a civil prisoner,unlike a hardened criminal you are not allowed any of the privilages that criminal prisoners get, like socks, pants or any of your own clothes or even the privilage of some legal help and experetise, since lawyers feel that they are helpless against the csa.
furthermore on successfully obtaining a visit to see my partner, only after consulting my local mp, and contacting the minister for justice office, i myself then had to endure the rigors of entering hmp, i was photographed and fingerprinted, which data base will these be stored on and for how long.
it beats me that mp.s have blatently broken the law by making false and exorbitant claims for expenses, making our parliament the laughing stock of the world, has anyone prosecuted them, oh no.
why is this agency above the law as we know it, why are they allowed to ruin lives and cause so much upset, and who in fact gets the money that they collect

working for the csa i wouldnt expect your blinkered attitude to come up with anything better to say,criminals are walking the streets,but men/women who have been hit on by the csa and nothing more go to jail, what about the families that are left to struggle whilst the working parent goes to jail , i hope you can sleep at night in the knowledge that you cause so much upset, give some people a little power and it goes to their head, very dangerous, i say this as the mother of two boys whom i have chosen to work for and support by myself, so take your sarcastic comment and place it where the son doesent shine and hope you never find yourself in a similar position

These CSA biggots think they’re in the right and doing good work, when they’re nothing more than debt collectors for the government. We get just as many parents with care as we get non resident parents emailing this website with complaints about how utterly incompetent the CSA are.
They’re rude, unreasonable, they lose information, lie, send the wrong details to the wrong people and yet they treat us as though we’re the scum.
Some say it’s going to far to compare the CSA to Nazis, I say it doesn’t go far enough. At least with the Nazis the rest of Europe could see they were evil, nobody seems to have noticed how evil the CSA is yet.

When did the case initially commence with the agency?
Did your OH ever supply earnings info to enable a proper assessment to be carried out?
How many children is he liable to pay maintenance for?
How much are the arrears?

The CSA are not up to the job, mistake after mistake, don’t answer letters etc.
What are the Government doing in giving them more powers? Its like giving the lunatics the keys to the asylum.

Hi Linda the thing is here did he have legal representation? if not then the courts have exceeded their jurisdiction by sending him to prison, without legal representation they cannot send anybody to prison end of . You can do the amgistrates and the police too for false imprisonment and also the magistrates for exceeding their jurisdiction.

I feel sorry for your husband, two years on I hope it all resolved itself and you have both come out the other side. The person who works for the CSA, you are all bloody useless and need to go on some training on how to do your job properly – following things through and recording information, plus some lessons on tact and being human wouldnt go amiss either!!
My partner has a 3 yr old son, his ex wife doesnt work, claiming benefits from the state, due to CSA cock ups of taking half his weekly salary (over £100) for months has left him overdrawn and unable to pay his mortgage (which of course she ran out on as she decided not to live there any more) meaning that the house has had to go to debt collectors and we had to move, despite both of us working all hours god sends and earning a decent amount of money between us, we struggled like hell for 6 months. The CSA have taken well in excess of £1000 over payment, yet all they can do now is knock £7 (yes thats right!) per week off his CM untill they have repaid the debt. It has taken months of phone calls, emails, different people saying that theyve sorted – we even got a letter last october claiming it had been altered and the following week he still got charged double, one 30min conversation with the CSA and we found out that they had absolutely no record of that letter or conversation, suprise surprise.
We are decent hard working people, and were paying CM in a private arrangement until my partners ex thought she could get more from the CSA and now we have been screwed left right and centre. We agree we should pay, we want to pay for his son, but then we do pay and she messes access around, saying we he cant have his son twice a fortnight (which is all we are asking for) as she looses £8 per week!!! We would of course challenge this in court put we cant afford to pay for solicitors but guess what – as she is on benefits and has absolutely no intention of working, she gets it for free!! How is this situation fair?
As far as I am concerned, the CSA (and anyone who works for them) and the government are an absolute joke.
I can totally sympathise with all the comments. My husbands ex girlfriend moved away when their daughter was 3 and he has had no contact with her since (her choice). He was paying her maintenance through a private agreement and then she closed her account and the payments kept bouncing back. He had no way to contact her as she moved away from the area and accepted that he would have to wait for her to get in touch. Four years later he was contacted by the CSA, they told him he owed them £30k – they had based the figure on one years earnings when his business did well, they did not take into consideration that the following year his business went into liquidation and he has had no income for the past four years. I have been struggling with the help of a little working tax credit to pay our bills and he has had 4 court hearings which have been adjourned whilst we have been applying for legal aid as we have no money. Our home was reposessed last year and finances are absolutely terrible. He was told in court yesterday that he may have to go to prison for non payment and they now want £50,000. Today we were told we dont quite qualify for legal aid so we are on our own. We are both in shock and terribly upset as we are hard working, honest and always try to do the right thing. we have copies of letters sent to the CSA over the past four years asking for a breakdown, we sent my husbands tax returns to prove he has had no income yet these have all been ignored. Last year the Citizens advice bureau tried to help by ringing them for a breakdown, they said they would send one and we’ve never heard anymore. I cannot believe the injustice we are going through and the total incompetance of the CSA, they have made our lives a total misery and its not over yet.

i have ALWAYS paid my csa on time every time then i was threatened with a DFE order ? WHY ? i was told because ive not set up a direct debt . so i said CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY PAYMENTS IVE MISSED ? ” NONE ” was the reply so i continued why have you sent me letters that people will come to my PARENTS house to remove property ? ” thats your last known address ” was the reply ! … so even after paying my way and saving to buy a house for my childern to have over night contact i did it. YAYYYYYYYYYYY . BUT BUT . i had an injury which kept me off work for 2 months and i was on ssp i informed the csa and they refuned me £16 to which i said keep it beacuse they informed me my payment woukld be £5 a week . ((£20 a month )) until i returned to work . a month later i was sent a letter for DFE ORDER for £20 . i rang the CSA to state i would be back in work in 2 weeks so my payments would increase and be back to normal soooo . ive been back in work now 6 months and only paying £5 a week from DFE order do these thick cunts not know am working at the same place ive been working from for the passed 6 years ? they have my address my N.I number , telephone number/mobile. .. am i expected to pay arrears from there fuck up ??? …
