Technical problems with a Deduction from Earnings Order?

August 14, 2010

Does anyone else know of a problem with the CSA setting up DEOs recently due to technical problems or is this unique to me.

I have been paying CSA via a DEO for over 12 months. Earlier this year I changed jobs. Eventually the CSA got in touch with me for my new details. I was dealt with by a very bad mannered woman agent who I have since made a complaint about. I have oddly enough had a verbal and written apology from CSA admitting that her manner was inappropriate. Even though the CSA have my new employment details to set up a DEO they still insist on phoning asking for payment via card. I refuse and tell them to take the money via a DEO and send a proper schedule. They phoned recently again asking for payment via phone as there is apparently a “Technical Problem” with my file so are unable to set up a DEO.

Who in their right mind would make a payment over the phone to the incompetent CSA especially when they are now having “Technical Problems“.

Has anybody else been told that there is technical problem recently with setting up DEOs?

I have also asked for my data protection prints as the CSA have told many a lie saying they have phoned when they haven’t and that they have written when they haven’t.

Why are you being awkward and obstructive and insisting of a DEO?

Why dont you pay via a Standing Order?

DEO's is a bad idea! cos if your employer dosent send the money to them! then YOUR STILL LIABLE! sucks or what!

My husband has paid over £56,000 in maintenance for his kids and ive received sweet FA off my first husband for my kids as hes self employed…. my second husband tried to close his case as his kids are now 20 and 21 to be told he owed £2,100 in arrears… he never missed a payment ever !!! We paid up as they harrassed, threatened and bullied him him to pay up. it made me very ill and i lost my job through depression, the CSa have never ever harassed my ex who owes over £25,000 in arrears to me !!! target the employed as are easy targets !!! The Csa ruin lives and dont give a shit who they hurt as long as they reach their targets !! Load of tossers

@Bryan. Yes, I agree – AND your employer can charge you for handling the DEO!In my case the CSA wrote to me telling me that they were issuing a DEO so I cancelled the direct debit to me ex. They didn't and then it was MY fault that I was in arrears.

I am finding the comments on here extremely suspicious myself!

CSA want me to pay via card over the phone but I refuse as I am worried they will take cash then set up a DEO and not adjust DEO to show that I have already paid by cash. This site worries me and some of the people on it I FEAR work for CSA!

I agree nobody want an unlawful DEO but when they scum that are the CSA insist that the DEO cannot be removed then what can you do. Due to the incompetence of these idiots that are the CSA I refuse to make any payments over the phone.

Hope that you do understand Martin that if you give them your bank account details that they can take whatever they like from your bank account. By you agreeing to a standing order or a direct debit opens the gates directly into your bank account.

Regardless of how its paid we are all getting screwed by a corrupt for profit company and we all need to be sticking together to beat these ass holes.

    Hi Action Man,

Can i just point out that the CSA can not YET take money from you bank account without your permission even if they have your details, this is an age old rumour that puts a lot of people off paying using a standing Order.

Also the CSA is a non-profit company and all money collected goes to the other party.

Also issue with DEO is probably due to on going work in the office (calculation of arrears?) If you have contact with your ex i would recomed setting up a standing order to her bank account with the reference CHILD MAINTENANCE PAYMENT then when the CSA chase you for money send them a copy of your bank statments showing these “Voluntary Payments”

    Hope this helps

    No, you are wrong.

A Standing Order does not give the CSA a direct line to any funds in your bank account, that is why it is safer than a Direct Debit or even DEO.

You have the right to pay by SO, use it……

  12. Action Man on August 16th, 2010 8:19 pm

Just checked out the CSA website to make sure I have my facts straight, as I thought you can only pay by Direct Debit not Standing Order when paid direct to the CSA (guess this is so they can change the amount to suit each month). Apparently you can pay the PWC by Standing Order but only if they agree to that. I was never offered any option just had a DEO put on me. At least now they don’t have access to my bank account!!! Standing Order is a fixed amount that cant be changed, Direct Debit is flexible and can be changed which is why they must go for Direct Debit so they can take what they bloody well like!!!

You assure you that you can pay via SO.

    I do so ……

  14. KarlGarrett on August 17th, 2010 10:24 am

SO is fine. I pay the CSA directly with a SO ( they don’t like it though!) and I’ve also blocked the DD with the bank, so that their originator ID will be denied.

These ass holes will take everything otherwise, leaving you homeless….not that anybody cares.

It doesnt matter how you pay this bunch of thieving tw*ts.. they will still come back for more.

My feelings are One Law, One assessment .. One simple payment method. The CSA should only get involved when there is a dispute between the parents over the money paid. One fair system for everybody. But that is too much to ask for.

They have tried to get me to make payments through my credit/debit card. I point blankly refused. They didnt like that one little bit. I also refused to set up D/D or S/O to pay them. I have been paying through DEO for the last couple of years, which I hate by the way. Earlier this year I did pay through Internet banking. They didnt like that either. But they get their money in the end. Maybe not how they want it.. but i refuse to be dictated to. one of this DEO or Liability orders. These are wrong.

I am now fighting to have the DEO lifted from me and I am hoping to set up a private arrangement with my ex. However I feel that will fall on deaf ears and I will be forced to carry on paying through DEO. At least that leaves a paper trail when you have a query with them

If the gestapo (csa) have a DEO on you why are you paying any other way? this is coming out of you employers bank account at source, does anyone know how to appeal aginst it as my assement is incorrect and has not taken into account my court order for my other two children? 40% of my salary gone what is the point of working? I would kick shit out of anyone who said they worked for the most evil goverment department ever.

Got something to say?
