I’ve been divorced for about 15 years now i got behind on support but working on getting it back up… The worst thing of it is i got out of work for about 3 or 4 years and now I’m back working now been for almost 6 years i been away from my 2 boys almost theyre hole lives never gotten to see them on birthdays never spent not one christmas with them and still i barely get by on whats left of a paycheck i have to pay 500 on rent then utilities and i get paid bi-weekly once they take out for the support i make about 250 to 300 each payday what can i do to get these payments lowered one boy isnt even living at home he is out living with friends and is 19 now and already been to jail and probably has worrents out for him . we got divorced because i didnt want that for my children but from what my oldest says my younger gets all the love at home with theyre mother and he is an outcast.

My ex wife gotten into drugs and drinking alot around them so i got a divorce thinking that would help fix the problem but i guess the state didnt see me fit to raise the boys better than that i now live with a girl i been with for 10 years about and all 4 children of hers i raised r doing fine at least they dont do drugs and dont drink and dont get into trouble i bonded with the 4 children of hers because my ex wife refuses me to see the ones of my own all i need is to get the payments lowered…

  1. If you manage to get them reduced it would be a Christmas miracle! The CSA dont see the human behind their figures.I can only wish you good luck.By the way, you have a right to access your kids, goto court!

  2. At the end of the day men need 2 realise how much money it actually takes 2 raise a child, inc rent, utility bills, food, nappies etc. Although u shouldnt be payin 4 ur 19yo unless hes in full time education an livin at home

  3. Rachel, just playing devil's advocate but does raising a child impact on how much rent you pay? Is your phone bill and gas bill affected by having a child? Nappies and food yes, electricity probably too if they're old enough to be watching TV or using video games consoles – but rent? Really?

  4. I have a child that lives with me and he doesnt cost the £500 per month the CSA take off me for his sister. Yes having kids isnt cheap, but it takes two to make a child and two too look after it. Im quite sure my ex doesnt contribute the same amount of money, what 10 year old kid costs £1000 per month? Really?

  5. I agree with Rachel on the rent – if you didnt have kids you could rent a smaller property – ie as a single person rent a studio/1 bed, but when you have kids you then need the 2nd bedroom – more bedrooms = higher rental costs.

  6. I think the way the CSA look at payments, even if a % on the new rules is the lifestyle the child could have continued living had the parents still been together. A child dosent cost £500 a month (in my opinion) however, the extra cash goes a long way to secure a better future for the child. Not all PWC are greedy, selfish etc – some actually look to ensure not only is their child living the best lifestyle possible, but also ensure the childs future is secure.

  7. In my case gas bill is defo higher than if I hadnt had my daughter living with me. I could save money but not using the heating often etc, but when she is around I can't let a toddler be in a freezing cold home, can I? Rent is also higher if you have a child living with you. If you are single, you can rent a room in a shared house. If you have a child, you need to have your own place so the child wouldn't have to grow up in a shared house with tons of strangers.

  8. Phone bill is also affected if you have a child because you often have to arrange thins on behalf of the child. Take/Cancel doctor's appointments, call the school (if the child is at that age) or nursery school, looking for a childminder also adds to the phone bill, calling government agencies with regards to child benefit etc also costs money.

  9. well said ! my x left when my boy was 4 he is now 15 the only way i know he is alive and well is because the CSA tell me

  10. I wish every father would be willing to see his child as well as contribute to the upbringing of that child!

  11. If the PWC cant afford the child send it to live with the father. Ive never not supported my child but the CSA take the p*iss! The £500 per month they talk off me effects my other child and they dont care.

  12. And if the PWC "cant afford" the child but the NRP is not interested in child then what?

  13. I've said a few times, if a child costs 150 aweek to keep then its 75 from nrp, 75from pwc. And, what makes no sense is when the government its self says a person needs x amount of job seekers to live, the csa are allowed to leave a nrp with less. How does that figure? The csa beat there dtum how the payments are for the invests of the child and, as we know will goto ANY lengths to extract that payment, so, shouldn't they have a duty of care to ensure that payment goes on the said child? Nrp have to supply information about income, why not pwc supply expenditure? Maybe not week by week but often enough to prove that money is going towards the child. And I would include holidays in that also.i for one cant for the life of me figure out how on earth anything the csa do is for the benefit of children.

  14. Not a case of not being interested Sylvia , i have done the contact order .Cafcass etc i was refused contact full stop , even the CSA said i had been abusive towards them . Thats not me i am hard working loving dad to 3 kidds who cannot get through to the senseless bastards at the agency

  15. If the NRP doenst care then thats their cross to bare! But its also not the tax payers. If a PWC stops a NRP seeing their kid then they are sick and twisted and dont deserve kids in the first place.

  16. True ! when a woman says Guess what I'm a Lesbian now get out before i call the Police and starts screaming you get out and don't look back !!!

  17. these pwc harp on about how much it costs for there kids its like a major problem shame as for rachel saying men need to relise how much money it takes to raise a child not all pwc are woman some are men you think goinng to the csa is the answer ???? obviousley just pure greed much wants more

  18. The UK currently has the highest number of single parent families. I would like to have another dog but i cant afford one but thats a dog, not a child, and i dont think anyone would ever say that they cant afford there child.

  19. When i was employed and paying everything i had to do work in a lot of single parents houses that were on benefits and a lot were poor but a hell of a lot had much more than me.Now i'm in this situation i wonder how many of there former partners where had to go through what i've gone through

  20. Richard, I wasn't talking about your case personally. I was talking in general, and I want to know what some people think as to what would be the answer to my Qs. Thank u.

  21. Ok , just that i am a so called NRP who as tried to negotiate payment and contact but failed ?

  22. I wish my daughter's father would step up as a father, my life would be a lot easier too and she could also have someone to call daddy. But he never calls us so I can't put a gun to his head forcing him to keep in touch. If he doesn't call us, it's his problem mainly, his business. It's not me missing out on anything but him. It's not me having to look into the mirror every single day facing guilt (that's if he feels bad… but only god knows what's going through his brain).

  23. A friend of mine is payin child support to his ex via CSA. They have a little girl together. My friend is great, loving father but his evil ex is preventing him from seeing their daughter. Anyhow he continues to pay as it's for the child (well, hopefully his ex is spending it on their daughter, not luxurius things for herself but i'll never know for sure). This is one type of story. The other type of story is where the NRP is simply not interested, doesn't make phone calls, etc even though he knows the PWC's phone number. These people will never step up no matter how you force them, unless some miracle happens and they change their mind.

  24. Good posts David, I totally agree that maintenance and access should be linked but quite simply for most cases neither the courts or the CSA should be involved. A set process should be established that deals with child related issues upon separation. Only after extensively trying to resolve matters should it go to court and if one side is shown to be unreasonable then they should be sanctioned (and enforced). The court can then put the costs of future dealings on the unreasonable party. The CSA or similar body can then chase the truly deadbeat nrp's and bring to task for shirking their responsibility.

  25. Have people heard about the governments plans to remove Legal Aid from family law cases, divorce and child related cases?

  26. thought they did that 10 years ago , as far as the CSA goes there has never been funding in civil courts

  27. at the end of the day if i didnt feed, clothe or put a roof over my sons head i would be up 4 child neglect, so why isnt it the same 4 a non resident parent??

  28. Indeed Samantha, the system needs to incorporate that fact and co-operation should be more forthcoming. They should discourage use of the CSA except in caseswith the NRP takes no responsibility at all.

  29. Question: Payments to the CSA that are going to go to the children or payments to the CSA that the CSA is going to KEEP! Was your ex on benefit, if she was then you are just paying additional taxation because she wouldn't work and the DSS was too incompetent to find her a job. After 15 years you children should now be in their late teens, so any time/money you want to spend on them should be done directly with them. You don't say why you didn't keep up contact, or why you didn't take residence in the first place. Discrimination by the solicitors and court I expect. When I was getting divorced I had a friend who could not see his children, not even an invite to his daughter's wedding. I spoke to his son, and he said "I come round to see Dad out of thanks for his paying my university fees, but when we needed him, he made no attempt to see us." When I asked their father his reply was that he'd always tried through the courts but they would never order contact. Fathers and mothers must always make sure that their children are fully aware that that they are trying to see them, by going to their school, other activities etc, and making sure that the children see them.Tell the CSA to get lost and deal directly with your children. What do they need money for, money for uni, money to buy a car etc etc. Do not get invlved with the CSA.

  30. David: I'll explain to u things in more details in PM. I don't want to divert the conversation to my personal situation.

  31. there are the PWC's intent on causing as much harm to NRP's and there are compliant PWC's who can find their own humanity to be reasonable with NRP…However! there are those that are arrogantly driven by greed and selfishness!!!!CSA is used as a crowbar to the NRP's finances like a burglar after the large LCD in ya lounge while you have no knowledge till you return home to find it gone… like the DEO shown on ya PAYE wage slip…PWC and CSA entered ya personal life and stole all that you earned to support your child… Now the child doesnt benefit…. but the CSA and the PWC do……see the picture???Damn… the gold frames been taken… and the god damned safe from behind it!!!!CSA and Greedy PWC's are like heroin addicts… they are prepared to rob you without warning and without any thought as to how you and your children are affected!!!!Lets face it… rent is hardly any difference with or without child as most houses are 2 bed houses and there is still full rent paid even for a single person without child….

  32. Rachel Sharp… wome needto learn that it takes tow to finance the costs of your child… Not just the resposibility of the man..If you wish to choose the battle of the sexes approach then I shall revert to my chauvanistic mentality in my comments…firstly,, chauvanism is equal to feminismn…. therefore an issue of equality… unfortunately the femenist is unable to see the logic of equality as she likes to think she is better than the man clearly and evidently… However! as a chauvanist I see the equality side of feminism and chauavanism….Note: EQUALITY!!!!!!!therfore as equals both women and men are equaly responsible for the raising of the child both emotionaly and financially… It is not just the man who is responsible for emotional and financial support…Clearly the femenist believes that the man is solely responsible to financially support the woman…. in order to support the child!!!!Newsflash!!!!! WRONG!!!! the man of cause should financially provide for the child not financialy support the mother… Clearly I comment on the man being NRP and woman as PWC… but as typical of the greedy selfish arrogant PWC…. its all about what the woman can GET from the man and not what the mother can provide for the child!!!!Far too often the greedy selfish arrogant PWC.. ( in most cases the WOMAN) uses CSA to cripple the NRP (in most cases the MAN) in order to control the life of the NRP… all because of the separation… Too often it is the woman stating her desire to get retribution by comment of: I'm gonna get my own back.!!!.. clearly an arrogant selfish greedy comment!!!!!We know how much it costs for a child at the hands of the PWC and CSA… so how is it… the single mothers can manage without CSA payments when the NRP is either dead or in prison?????Its all about the greed, the selfishness and the arrogance of the PWC…FACT!!!!!The result is mainly the woman…PWC is spend spend spend while NRP foots the bill all because the PWC will not budget effectively!!!!PWC's have a habit of lieing to the CSA so that the CSA demand more money from NRP!!!! this appears to be the sole intention of the PWC to satisfy her arrogant need of satisfaction for selfish greed!!!!It's not about the child to the PWC… the PWC uses the child as a weapon against NRP….. PWC uses the child as an excuse to abuse the power of the CSA and the power of the Law for her own selfish greed!!!!!In the end the PWC has a lovely comfortable bank account while NRP becomes bankrupt and finally suicidal… then PWC comes dancing on NRP's grave celebrating!!!! but interestingly enough complains when she no longer has financial support for her child as the Deseased is no longer in the position to provide,,, well done PWC…PWC without seeing reason or logic has epic Fail!!!!! How clever!!!!

  33. Rachel forgets that the NRP needs to be able to live…. Only because she is the PWC who thinks about her own finances being healthy with the attitude of… so what if the NRP is destitute and living on the streets… how selfish, greedy and arrogant is Rachel????

  34. for those who wish to take the battle of the sexes approach!!!! I look forward to any femenist who wishes to present her argument towards my chauvanistic comments!!!!

  35. If we all got together and took the CSA to court we could force a judicial review of the law. We would need at least 2000 complaints to club together for a class action.Anyone game?

  36. We go deliver petition to PM along with details of our complaint. Someone has to make a stand, both PWC and NRP complain about them, the law is broken and biast, they HAVE to listen.

  37. Yes this needs to be answered where do we make the complaints and who would be able to complain cause lot's and lot's my friends who are employed would like to know why they are paying for me when it could have been avoided if the system was fair

  38. So the working public are paying for 337,168 = 48% of us, surely they would damand to complain.I would love to know how many of the 337,168 where forced into unemployment because of this unfit for purpose department (all governments). Plus i hope my figures are correct, if not then sorry

  39. So can my friends complain that there paying for me on the dole and if the system had of been fairer this would never have happened in my case, i'm sure i'm not alone

  40. Well I work, study and claim JSA, I did have a good job until the CSA decided to make poor decisions… unfortunately, I will help anyone who wants to claim more and cause as much admin as possible. Remember money talks in our society and we should point it out to the politicians that the CSA costs the state money in a number of different ways!
