‘Go live in a tent’ says the Child Support Agency

February 11, 2010

4 years off work with a broken leg and then a massive heart attack (probably caused by the stress of the csa) and they demanded £5,500, also advised me to live in a tent, when l returned to work they took eveything and left me with £52.60 a week.

l was told by a woman who visited me from the csa that l didnt owe anything, only to recieve a letter 7 days later informning me that they wanted full payment, on phoning the csa l was told that it was the accounts department and what the other lady had told me was nothing to do with them.

this has been 10 years now and l have been to court twice, the liability order was issued, the magistrate said they where sorry but under section 13 they had to allow it. the baillif has been and l am now looking to go to prison, is this justice? l am only allowed to earn £86 a week now so how the hell am l supposed to see me kids, and look after them, oh by the way, my x wife had the affair and secretly went for divorce giving me 2 weeks notice, she sold our house in cornwall giving me £4000, (she had over £50,000) of which l had to pay her parents £1500, half of the deposit they lent us, court costs, solicitors fees and debts, and l still gave her £160 a week.

She moved 400 miles away and my life has spiralled down ever since, HELP.

    Hi charles,

In order to gain committal, the agency have to prove culpable neglect or wilful refusal – and the court must enquire into the non resident parents means.

In order to give correct advice, we would need more info re your case.
