Why isn’t CSA a set amount?

I was paying my ex £96 a month for 2.5 years as I do have my child as often as I can. As soon as I found a new partner and settle down my ex rang csa.

I’m now paying £381 a month . They don’t care that I have my own bills or that we already had an agreement in place. Csa are there and it’s a win win for the claiming parent.

I now can’t afford to do anything . I agree that maintenance should be paid but why should one child’s mother get £380 and another a lot less it should be a set amount.

  1. Gregory, you raise such a valid point there. Under the new CMS with “shared care” you can have your kids one day less a year and they will award payments to her. sometimes at the standard rate. So by that logic, that one day of extra care must cost her thousands of pounds.

There is no forward thinking logic applied to any of this. It is a toxic organisation with support from government who don’t want to spend the requisite amount of time thinking about or dealing with the actual problems that it causes.
