Why do the CSA try to prevent people from starting a new life?

I am asking on behalf of a family member. The ex wife has stopped him seeing his son for 9 months now as she is jealous of his new relationship.

He has carried on paying CSA of course as we believe that is what you have to do regardless of access to the child.

The CSA payments are crippling him and his new wife and every time he gets a promotion the CSA take more and more. He works hard and of course wants to pay for his son but it seems so unfair that he and his new wife and her son cant get a mortgage because of how much money the CSA take, over £100 a week.

Is there no way the CSA can reduce payments in accordance to peoples incomings/outgoings? It seems mighty cruel to cripple people when they cant afford it

  1. I would tell him to get csa to look into his claim….with 1 child it should be 15% taken off of his pay (if he’s on cs2) as wrong as it is not do work more than he has to as this might end up being the new calculation even if it’s not guaranteed.

The ex cannot legally stop contact so if I was him get a free consult from a solicitor to start regaining access rights.

New system phases in soon where parents have to come to their own arrangements with maintenence or risk being charged to use their services, look up child support options which will give him all the advice.

  2. He should receive an allowance of 15% if his stepchild lives with him.
One QC means he pays 15% of the remaining 85% of his weekly income.
If he is earning less than £785 a week or not receiving the allowance for a child in his household he needs to ask for a reassessment.

  3. csa is disgustingly unfair and biased towards the pwc. Agree parents should both contribute but they don’t. The nrp is screwed and bled dry and gets no help whatsoever, his new family simply do not matter in the csa eyes, whilst the pwc gets help left right and centre and what seems in most cases an endless supply of cash from the ex because this fucking government agency says so
    gonk
