What happens when the father of my child denies paternity?

Hi, I am pregnant and the father of the child has left and says he will not help me in anyway.

He is now saying that it could be someone elses and this is really rude and offesive as he knows i’m faithful and loyal.

When the baby is born and he protest he is not the dad for money sake. What will happen?

What if he wont take a dna test?

Will it cost me to go to court?

I just don’t know what i will be able to do?

  1. If you make an application to the child maintenance service, this will cost you £20, and he disputes paternity a DNA test will be required.
If he proves to be the father the costs will be added to any arrears which he will have to pay.
If he is not the father the cost is absorbed by the CMS (the taxpayer).
If he refuses to take the DNA test or refuses to communicate with them they will assume he is the father and demand child maintenance from him with all that entails.
