What happens to CSA when the child is not living where they are supposed to?
Hello there i’m just after a bit of advice I’m currently paying csa for my child which has proven financially difficult but is obviously unavoidable.
However I’ve just discovered that my child has been residing at her grandparents property and not at the claimants residence and wondered if my payments should have either continued or should still continue now I have found this out.
Thanks for any advice.

We had this problem. We had to prove that my stepson was living at my husbands mothers house, or they wouldn’t accept the information. The PWC gave up care to my husbands mother, and continued to claim CSA, child benefit, tax credits etc.
We received a letter from the PWCs solicitor asking for my husband to give consent to his son residing at his mothers. We used the letter as evidence, and one from the school he was attending.
They closed the case and back dated it, however they have come up with fictitious arrears of £1000, that we don’t owe, but on the plus side it’s now closed. The PWC also had to payback all the benefits she’d claimed, and was cautioned for benefit fraud. His PWC was just power and money hungry. She’d stopped us from seeing him, unless we gave her more and more money, when we couldn’t afford it, she stopped us completely. When she had no one to control, she threw him away like an old, used toy. Once the money disapeared, so did she. We have my stepson alternate weekends, and she hasn’t seen him in 6 months. Sad, but true.
Speak to your MP, and they will normally contact the CSA on your behalf. Speak to the benefit fraud people if she’s still claiming money for the child. Search online for help with the CSA, I can’t remember who we spoke too. There’s an email you can send to the complaints team if you feel no ones helping you. Remember to note done who you’ve spoken to, when, what time etc. and always send things by recorded delivery! Good luck 🙂
