What happens if my son doesn’t even have my last name?

One of my sons dosent have my last name,but did for a few years. i wasn,t notified about this, and cant remember if he was registered at the time with my last name.

Me and the mother split in 1999. she has remarried and he has her husbands last name. and yes the usual situation with the csa.

Any help aprieciated.
