What can I do about this imposed arrears?

Ive paid CSA for 15 years and in November the CSA contacted me to tell me my payments were to end as my daughter, who is 18 now as started university.

The date my CSA ended was the 27th August so id over paid almost £700. I asked when I would receive my over payment back and the CSA said the would be in touch with me at a later date.

On the 18th December the CSA called me to say they had looked into the whole of my case and found that I am £9000 in arrears. Ive never not paid child support in the 15 years that ive been split from my ex partner ( who as never allowed me to see my daughter).

I know that I do not owe any arrears. Can someone please advice me what my options are. I feel like this is a nightmare thats never going to end.

Thanks.

  1. Ask for a copy of the breakdown so you can see for yourself. If you had an old rules case (pre 2003 which I’m guessing you did) demand a full old rules breakdown as well.

  2. you are legally entitled to a full copy of your file. it will make useful and good reading.

if you find the problrm make a complaint and ensure that you state that it is a tier 2 complaint

    good luck
