The CSA’s mistake has cost me £9,000
having dealt with the csa for over 12 years I think I am now ready to just throw in the towel…. 8 or 9 years ago I began to get cheques from the csa saying I had overpaid them …. this went on for months and months and every time |I called to say they were wrong they assured me i should cash the cheques. hey presto 2 yrs later they landed me with a bill for nearly 9 grand which i am still paying off… (its down to 6).. i have just moved address and asked them to re assess me as my rent is much more expensive, while waiting i paid half what i usually pay so as not to fall behind to much… the result was a call from them with a mention of bailiffs, no wonder guys throw themselves off bridges sometimes… thier behaviour is a disgrace

did you receive in writing the statement that you could cash the cheques?
@CSAHell WHAT?! NINE THOUSAND?!
Ask to see proof that you cashed them until they come forward with evidence deny everything as they don’t keep auditable accounts

I would stop Paying. Cancel your Direct Debit and fight it. Every week I have murders with them, but it’s the only way you can keep on top of it.

@ Lisa – hiya! Has your FB group tried to contact journalists newspapers etc?? I was going to suggest you and/or Eddie try contacting the programme called ‘Dispatches’ as this programme seems to deal with controversial stories…. It’s on tomorrow night and the subject is ‘the police’s dirty secret’… It might be worth a try…
🙂
Steve Johnson liked this on Facebook.
@sally, yes we have approached all of these, unfortunatly because.of the practises of the CSA there is now a media blackout, this is why this website is a.godsend to people, nobody wants to know, its bollocks, if your a hard done to PWC then.maybe that story would be heard, we will keep trying though, even watchdog have been contacted and.they are not able to help either,
Remember the words ‘restorative justice’. Keep all documentation as evidence for the day when the CSA is exposed and the floodgates open as with PPI.
I got stitched up with £6400 of ‘made up’ arrears, and now that I am about to get shut of this lot, I am told that I will have to pay until 20. A child at 20. That is a p-ss take.
They are obviously running out of targets, because people are making their own arrangements, without CSA involvement, so what do they do? add another year on to keep themselves in work and continue to make money for their stakeholders i.e. Politicians.
Restorative justice is coming your way soon CSA!
Yes,John that is exactly what I said to my husband about future compensation. I have kept a huge file on exactly the situation we are in. How we have paid the pwc ,have proof of what we’ve paid. We’ve had a tribunal to have the children that lived with us allowed for off the arrears -they say it couldn’t be done .we were adamant we had a private arrangement with the pwc .They said yon had case open in 2003( they said this last year !!) We said the pwc closed it many years ago ,she told us exactly that! What do they think the pwc was using to bring up the children & why didn’t she say anything to either us or CSA for 8 years if she was receiving any money …it doesn’t make sense???.The CSA said it couldn’t be done (the tribunal) too long had passed but judge allowed it .Small victory, well ,step in the right direction but we shouldn’t have these arrears anyway. They keep coming up with excuse after excuse why this doesn’t count ,that doesn’t count. Nobody who even works there seems to understand how it works .They lose things ,send private information to wrong addresses we have been told by other people. All these different changes CSA1,2, now 3 ,phasing etc leaving vast differences between what people are paying. The power the CSA has we are afraid to just REFUSE to PAY we are being compliant because we are that kind of people & hoping common sense will prevail (is that too much to ask for ?) Seeing our MP sped things up a bit but I think they gave him the same old excuses & he hasn’t got time to wade through reams of updated legislation !! He said he would recommend us to take it to ICE but from what I’ve heard it is run by CSA employees.Would we get a fair hearing. My husband has had time off for stress. My husbands children are now alienated from us as they have to take the pwc’s side -they have to live with her. !!We had a good relationship for many years with them ,taking them on our family camping holidays so the pwc could go away with her boyfriends etc having them EVERY weekend ,buying clothes & uniforms until they were teenagers etc We formed a good bond between them & our young son when he was born & for many years now his siblings ignore him & us in the street. Thanks for nothing ,CSA you have torn our family apart by believing the pwc.!! I have a strong feeling all this will be out in the open one day & it will be proven that the CSA way is not the way BRITISH justice works !!
@ Carrie.
Sorry to hear of your problems. There are second tier tribunals that you can complain to, if you disagreed with the first tribunal.
I would not let your M.P. get off lightly. You should remind your M.P. that politicians have voted for, and put CSA legislation on the statute books, and therefore, your M.P. is responsible for this disgraceful shambles. Sending you back to the ICE is not good enough. Your M.P. employs staff (at taxpayers expense), and your M.P. should be utilising the staff to go through the legislation, and assist you with your complaints. If your M.P. fails to do this, complain to the Parliamentary standards committee. This what democracy is about, freedom of speech, and fairness.
I went through all the complaints procedures/tribunals. The tribunal was ‘rigged’ with a CSA employee running it. (a solicitor employed by CSA), so my case was dismissed. My complaints to the ombudsman were supported by my M.P., but they both ‘turned bandit on me’, and ‘whitewashed’ my case of prolonged, continued, and severe maladministration.
However, I have my M.P. involved again now, because the CSA are not investigating new information, that I have provided to them. No doubt, that they will all close ranks again, but constant reminders and complaints, must have an impact in making politicians realise that the current system is a complete shambles.
Good luck and keep fighting for justice.
