The CSA took money but it hasn’t reached my ex – what’s going on?

August 18, 2013

I recently got a whacking great lump taken off my wages to cover ‘arrears’, even though I have a voluntary arrangement with my ex that is actually more than the CSA would take normally.

On top of this, I have also discovered that as my child is 18 and left full time education 6 months ago, the CSA should never even have been involved in the first place.

Contacting them is useless, they say e-mails will be responded to within 10 working days – what is this, the dark ages? And by telephone they are even less help, the tone of their operators very condescending towards the NRP.

My ex and I managed to get along fine with our own arrangement, and my ex has said they will send me back any excess the csa give her over and above what my own payments were. However, the money was taken from my wages 4 weeks ago and my ex still has not recieved any payment from the CSA, leaving us BOTH short of money. How is that supposed to help a child ??
