The CSA is asking for £2,000 because of their mistake
My ex husband was found guilty of sexually abusing my daughters. I have a now 21 year old son with him. He didn’t pay csa for ages as for obvious reasons couldn’t get a job. He did pay it off and on for a few years till my son left education.
I had a letter from CSA asking for overpayment of £844 so I wrote and said it must be some mistake as THEY calculated it all Now I’ve received a letter saying they did a calculation and I in fact owe £2244 instead. I’m beside myself with worry. I know for a fact my ex worked many weeks without telling them and they only chased him when I rang them to tell him he was working. Please help me.

You need to request your data file of them. This will help you a lot. Do not agree to anything till you receive the data file. It will cost you £10. If they ring you tell them you don’t want ringing and all communications must be by mail. Don’t worry the csa are incompetent and always make mistakes. Get your mp involved and always forward letters onto your mp as reference
Most of all don’t let them grind you down

Together we can change the csa. The law needs to be changed and its not hard for them to use their brain. and this is one reason why. Fathers do need to pay for their children but the way in which payments are worked out needs to change. Like payments are worked out after LIFE bills and taken into account first like food rent etc. Then they also needs to look at the full household income of the mother and take that into account so the money doze go to mums who really do need it not mums who want the use it to pay their new car off why you cant pay your rent.. They need to stop taking into account working tax credits and child tax credits on the fathers side as an income also. Also if the mother will not let you see you kids you should pay less. It the mother gets married or moves in a new partner then that’s a family unit and a parent who hardy sees their child should not pay a full amount. Like this if you agree and for this to change everyone being used as a money cow needs to come together to have there vice heard. I’m not voting the government back in they useless
But why should some body pay for somebody else’s children?
I pay Csa for my children . If I move in with my partner do I have to pay for her children and her ex benefit from me?
mp cant do anything they like a postal service all they do is pass it on same as what would happen if you had posted it to csa just teks longer to sort out in mean time they will want paying at csa wont stop coz of delay in posting via MP …. we tried this route didnt work… what you need to do is put a c omplaint in to the complaints review team and then if you dont get anywere with that go to the independant case examiner and also take em to a tribunal doesnt cost you but yes defo start with a data subject access request and when you have dealt with ICE if you not satisfied got to the ombudsman.
