The Child Support Agency doesn’t account for my debts in their calculations
When the CSA first contacted me they told me debts I had to settle for the family could not be taken into account, and hence reduce my payments. I have had unpleasant ‘phone calls from the CSA, they have attempted to twist the facts, and ignored their own information sheet stating that such debts can be taken into account. The ICE has condoned the CSA falsely telling me that Debts cannot be taken into account. The ICE has also changed my complaint, and the Parliamentary ombudsman so far has failed to act, completely ignoring the numerous errors the CSA has made. The CSA/tribunal service promised me a local hearing, then changed the location tp 60 miles away, did not tell me, and made false claims to the court.
Does anyone know of an organisation or person that can get these people to stay within the law, admit their mistakes, and treat innocent people who have lost their homes and families with a little respect

Sadly the CSA are for the best part a lw unto themselves. There is no watchdog body to keep them in line. Thats why they are so crap at what they do. I was in exactly the same boat as what you are now, only it was 7 years ago. As part of my divorce i took on all the marital debt being the parent that worked. The CSA fed me that line as well, and as far as i am aware the line has never changed when it comes to what ever debts you have. If you what you say is true and they should have taken all of my debt into consideration instead of just my top line nett pay when working out what i would have to pay, i should sue them. They are very crafty in the fact that unless you force them they wont commit hardly anything in writing through the post. This is because it would stand up in a court of law to show them for what they are. Most complaints could be dealt with without the need for tribunals or law courts if the facility was there to actually speak to a case officer face to face, rather than via a premium rate 0845 number. I find it hilarious that in most aspects of life there is an ombudman or watchdog where banks, utility companies etc can be held accountable. yet not the CSA. The only advice i can give you is to keep hounding them incessantly. write to them, email them ( keep copies of everything you send along with the dates they were sent ) ring them. The CSA does have an internal complaints dept. Or the next step a tribunal or get lega advice to take them to court. If all those avenues fail, get your MP involved. It is after all a government agency! The more of a thorn in their side you become, the more likely they are to address your issues. It took me 5 months to get them to admit that they had been over charging me arrears for 4 years longer than they should have been. I have finally got them to admit their mistakes. As my daughter is 18 now, i would still have had to pay for another year to them for her as she is in full time education still. As what they had already taken from me was more than i could possibly be charged for the next 12 months, they have ceased taking any more from me. In fact, today was my first maintenance free pay day in almost 10 years! Child maintenence options is an advice website where you can talk to someone for advice about maintenance issues. they are nothing to do with the CSA and anything you say to them is confidential. Try the citizens advice even. Hope this helps. Good luck!
First line of previous message. lw should read law.
