Struggling to pay bills because of the CSA’s demands
I have a son of the age of 9 who stays with me 2 nights a week. I seem him 4 days overall, I’ve paid everything that has been asked of me im currnetly working 31 hours a week.
I wrote a letter explaining why i dont owe back the csa are taking off me nearly £400 a month leaving me with £589 a month. My rent alone is £500.
I’ve rang up on several occasions and so as my boss who does the wages and no one seems to know whats going on. It’s gettin me depressed and i’m struggling to keep up with my bills.
The csa dont seem to be helping me.

No way should you be paying this amount of CM.I am sure it is 15% you should be paying for the one child,Also if you are having your son 2 nights per week this should also bring the amount down. Are you paying any arrears?.This would bring up the amount you are paying every month.Do NOT ring the CSA ,you will not get the same person every time and they will always give conflicting answers. Put everything in writing, this why you will have solid proof if you have to fight your case, get your MP inolved,do not give up.Next year the PWC and the NRP if they can get on will be able to come to a private arrangement over payment.Would this help you.Go onto the CSA calculator and see what payments you should be paying.Hopefully someone else on this forum will be able to advise you alot more than what I have beeen able too.I am a PWC (do not get any money for my son) and a( wife of a NRP who pays for a child every month)So i hope i am not baised on my advice.
Anthony,
Are you in receipt of any tax credits?
If the agency have calculated arrears on your case, you really need to be pro active and establish how they have accrued, the amount and if they are indeed correct.
If you have arrears the agency can take up to a max 40% of your income.
Only overnight stays and not day time contact with the non resident parent count for a shared care reduction.

On the face of it seems wrong. If it is arrears you can phone the CSA up and request they are paid over two years. if you are polite they are extremely helpful.
Extremely helpful Mary? I have never once found anyone at the CSA ‘extremely helpful’, except perhaps for their head of security when he telephoned us about this website. As he wasn’t discussing a case and wanted our help, he was ‘extremely helpful’ and indeed polite himself. When speaking to any of their staff about a case, they’re mistrusting, rude and abrupt.
Not to mention arrogant and careless with facts.
Nope, not really sure what you’re talking about.
Yes ,this agency are so helpful that after nearly six months trying to get money from my ex i ended up ringing the CSA and cancelling my claim with them. They are only getting money from the NRP who are easy prey.
My problem is believe paying to much CSA I want to learn what does csa consider expenses for non resident parent. Do csa consider non-resident live expenses and conditions which is mean that Mortgage, council tax, electric city, gas, employee expenses, ect… I am non-resident parent and paying £ 85 per week .This calculation very surface calculation which is this is 25% my gross payment and tax and national insurance off and then nothing left on my hand.I am paying £410.33 mortgage per month £ 87 council tax,£60 elect.gas £44.50 fix water rate per month £ 80 feul pm,I am not considering food and etc..And my income is £ 264.10 Per week Could you tell me how can I survivor in to the live without loosing my home
I would like to say this comment is not mean I do not want to pay my children maintainence If my live standart really is getting down down and down my esapareted wife is good posions because she has own buisness I believe she makes profit plus working family & Child tax credit whic is £ 15600 for a year has two own houses+ CSA Patment form me £ 4420 for a year I believe that This is injust decision for non-resident .Whatever the situations I believe that When csa does calculate child maintanence paymeny They must be consider both parties financial positions and than later make decision. What they say we take 25% income form non-resident parent.
