Strange conversation with CSA – can anyone help?

My ex-husband is constantly telling me that he does not want to pay child support for our 3 young children. Also said that he has a “good accountant who will ensure that I receive a low amount” for our children. He succeeded and I receive a small amount . I tried to appeal but it was turned down. He is self-employed and is a managing director of a business that supplies certain food to various countries. Plus he has several business interests in other companies within and outside the UK. He receives regular money from his brother in law who owns a large manufacturing company abroad and supplies to various countries as well. His wife (ex husband) is a qualified accountant but he also uses another accountant. He does not declare his cash payments from the business plus has not declared his property in another country. He has removed his name from the deeds of the his house.

I had a very difficult and nasty divorce. He did not want to reveal his assets. I ended up loosing the house and a housing association took over the property.I ended up with no divorce settlement and several large debts from the divorce. He went into liquidation and opened up the same company under another name. I still trying to rebuild my life and create a happy and loving environment for the children. I always ensure that they have regular contact with their father.

Last year he had a second child with his new wife and text me to say that money money will be drastically reduced. I accepted that and just waited for the CSA to contact me about this. Also, my ex stopped paying. Four months later, I heared nothing and decided to contact the CSA. It was quite a strange conversation. Firstly, they did not know that he was self-employed. They also said that he has not declared the birth of his second child. I was then tranfered over to a senior person within the CSA who asked me further questions and was put on hold. The person then came back and informed me that they took a credit card payment and asked him about the child, he denied this.

What I’m not sure how I can appeal again. Can anyone shed some light on this, I would be really greatful? Sorry for the long story.

  1. If he is a director of a limited company he would not be classed as self employed.
If he has not informed them of a child in his household he is forgoing a % reduction in his maintenance liability.
You can request a reassessment or ask for a variation on the grounds that his lifestyle exceeds declared income.
