Should my ex wife contribute towards our son, who lives with me?

Recently seperated from my wife and at present on amicable arrangement whereby I pay her around £240 per month towards my 5 year old maintenance which she got calculated by one of your calculators.

I have my 11 year old living with me, Josh and believe that she should contribute something towards his keep. She only earns around £300-£500 net per month but is claiming benefits and with parents who pay for their food etc. Should she be contributing 15% of this.

I also have to pay all the bills of the matrimonial house where my 18year old and 23 year old still reside .

  1. You are entitled to make a claim against her for your son but as she is on benefits you will only receive a flat rate maintenance of £5 pw under the current scheme

As for paying for the mortgage you can apply under the grounds of a variation and this may reduce your maintenance
