Ready to chuck it all in
I have had a torturous 8 years of hell with the csa and we are at the final stages now. when iu first left my husband due to constant verbal abuse (slag whore bitch every single day) i pai the mortgage and gave him £130 a week. he still got in touch with the csa. He contacted them three times and eventually i told him if he did it again i would pay only what they asked for. Every single time i was beginning to get on with my life they would be there.
Eventually they told me i had to pay him £37 a week so i reduced the payments i was giving him from £100 plus the mortgage paid to £37 per week. This went on for years until i set up my own business. cut a long story short i ended up in arrears due to a good year followed by a bad year then loosing my dad on top of that.. they wanted £80 a week and i needed every penny i had to get to the hospital to see dad.
They calculated the arrears a t £6000 but we worked it out at £3000. They refused to answer our questions and rushed through a court hearing.. we didnt evan get the letter to say there was a hearing it was returned to them because i was away spending time with my recently widowed mother. The day before the court hearing they agreed on our £3000 figure and then stung me for £1,500 court costs. I have nowhere to go now and really and truly i am just sick to bloody death. i have had many many many nights when sleep didnt come and all the people i turn to for help make on they know it all then do a runner when the going gets tough.
I want to agree a reasonable repayment plan but they just want huge monthly amounts or to bankrupt me. DO people actually survive this mess?

It’s terrible to hear all that and unfortunately its sad story that is repeated over and over again. I lost my job because of the csa and if anyone truly thinks that they act in anyone’s children’s best interest your “f**king crazy”. This csa mess is a bottomless sesspit and they want to drop you continually into it. Give up, don’t pay them or claim benefits..cheat them , play them at they’re own game.
Sorry but its a painful experience and no child or family benefits.
Get your lazy MP involved ASAP and make sure you hound that MP they are the only ones who get anywhere.
hadenough,
Quote brian; “Give up, don’t pay them or claim benefits..cheat them , play them at they’re own game.”
That’s unhelpful and poor advice from brian, who, if you read his previous posts is paying a 3rd party to try and deal with his own case…
The agency will attempt to get outstanding amounts collected asap, but they are able to negotiate, whether or not they are prepared to will depend on individual case circumstances.
It may be worth completing an incoming/outgoings sheet ( link to a CAB sheet http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/d_budget_sheet.pdf) and forwarding proof to confirm it is a true reflection. Although the agency are not obligated to take any of it into account, it may assist repayment negotiations.
Try and keep your communications with them in writing, keep copies and post signed for delivery.

yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
have at last got some where.
I was a jibbering wreck in court.. you don t get the chance to explain where the payments went wrong.
I contested the court fees and got a told by the judge that it was unlikely that i would not have to pay them.
My solicitor contacted them and explained that a year ago they asked for £3,000 . we were looking to sort out a payment plan but before they did that they sent a letter stating i owed £6,000. they then stopped answering our letters and took it to court. I didnt get the first letter as i was staying with my mum and it got sent back to them.
We kept trying to contact them by letter but they didn t respond. I got about two weeks notice of the court date and contacted them by phone. they apologised and told us they had started the court action in error and would cancel the hearing there was no need for us to attend … they would sort it. i didnt trust them and went to the court to hand in an objection.
The hearing went ahead and they stung me for £1,500 costs.
Although the day before the hearing they admitted i only owed £3,000.
My solicitor spoke to them yesterday and they have now dropped the claim for costs. Now i have am back to where i was exactly a year ago. We both agree on how much i owe so i can finally pay it. Unless of course they turn into tossers again which given the track record is highly likely!!!
