Permanently disabled and asked to pay CSA from my benefit

I have just been diagnosed as permanently disabled. I am now being asked to pay CSA from my benefit. My Daughter lives over 300 miles away and I am not able to drive. Since I have to pay this money (which I think is immoral, can I ask for access to my Daughter and, if so, is there any help I can recieve to fund visits either to or from my Daughter?

If the answer is no, is this against my “human rights”?

  1. If you are on disabled benefits like my ex husband is,then you should only be paying £5.00.Why do you think paying this is immoral ?The CSA is unfair in the way it treats PWC and NRP’s,but i dont think this falls into ” human rights “.If you are paying more than this amount then it should be questioned. Can you see your daughter ? 300 miles is going to cost more than £5.00 and no funds would be available for you to travel this distance.I am still awaiting my £5.00 a week from my ex since January 4th 2012,wont hold my breath on recieving it this side of xmas.

  2. No you couldn’t ask for access just because you have to pay maintenance. The CSA are only interested in what money they bring in as they have to make the figures look good.

You can apply for a variation if you have travel expenses if the cost is £15 or more. You would have to pay the first £15 and provide proof also I think

  3. David,

    What benefits do you claim?
Do you have any other income?
