Nothing from CSA in two years, then the bailiffs came
I am being asked to pay arrears to the CSA for my son who is almost 26, working as a solicitor and earning more money than I do.
I repeatedly asked the CSA for a breakdown of the money i allegedly owed. My request is written in the case papers by a CSA officer back in October 2008.
I never heard anything and two years ago I stopped making the payments – I informed the CSA I was doing so. I heard nothing and foolishly believed it was all over. Closure at last.
Then in February 2011, I received a letter from a firm of bailiffs saying unless i paid £5,000 immediately they would come to my home and take my belongings.
After TWO YEARS of hearing nothing – they are hounding me again.
I have started making monthly payments again and asked for a breakdown of what I owe. I am still waiting three months later. This Government organisation is a disgrace. the minister responsible for it Maria Miller MP says herself that it destroys families. She is right.
When my son was just eight my ex-wife convinced a court welfare officer and a judge that my contact with my son was upsetting him. As a result I have not seen him since – that’s 18 years. In that time I have paid in the region of £40,000 and they still want more.
We should all be urging Ms Miller to put the CSA out of its misery because that’s all it causes – total misery.

you work as solicitor and never had people come to your door about the csa if you got the written evdeince take those scum bags to court
You say they sent bailiffs around. Then there must have been a Court Hearing which you must have been notified about and which you then failed to attend. Surely as a solicitor you know that all Court Hearings must be attended otherwise they will obtain a default judgement.
Again, as a solicitor, surely you are aware that bailiffs cannot enter your property unless you invite them in, or leave the premises unlocked and/or windows open.
Similarly with contact, you should have been able to keep this going and been able to continue seeing your son.
Welcome to real world where the CSA do what they like to extort money from fathers, none of which will be given to your son, nor used for child support.
You are being targeted because you have shown that you will pay even when they are unable to provided any evidence of the debt.
The first thing that you have to do is write off for a copy of your file under the data protection act to the CSA in Longbenton and ask for copies of all computer and clerical records. Ask for the computer log to be properly dated and enclose a £10 postal order (not cheque). Quote your NI number. This you need to get thru so that you can see what has actually happened over the years and see if and when they say they contacted you and when/where they took the matter to Court.
You will then need to appeal the Liability Order that has been made against you.
It is also likely that you will have to take your case to ICE (Independent Case Examiner), Parliamentary Ombudsman (via your MP), and/or a Judicial Review.

Good luck, you’re going to need it.
