No way of finding where my ex works

14 months ago i seperated from my now ex-husband. I soon got in touch with csa to open a case.

When we seperated he had recently quit another job. therefore i recieved £5 weekly for my 2 children. to cut a long story short, everytime i notice the payments stop i contact csa who inform me he has started working. the ex wont return contact to csa and denies working. I have no way of finding out where he works. csa then have to go through inland revenue. now here is the problem….csa contact the ex to inform him payments will be deducted from his wages and low and behold he quits his job and im back to getting £5 a week after up to 6 weeks of them trying to claim from him.

This is now the third time he has quit a job to avoid paying csa (totalling approx 6 months of no payments due to the time it takes tracking him, then restarting claim from benefit etc) he also refuses to pay £10 a week in back payment from benefits.

I am really annoyed he can get away with this repetitive behaviour. i spoke to csa today who advised me that if he continues to repeat they can send the case to enforcement team.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

I have no issue with the csa staff i have spoken to…just the laws that allow men/woman to do this

  1. My ex has been job hopping for the past 7 years, csa won’t take it to enforcement as its too expensive & difficult to prove, their words to me….I can’t be doing this for the next umpteen years so closed my case, its too frustrating and gets you no where, I can’t even get arrears because he’s on benefits, not even the 5.00 a week….soon as csa used to take from his benefit he’d sign off wait a few weeks then start a claim, which takes csa 3 months to sort out. If your ex is like mine your in for years of misery I’m afraid…its not right but unfortunately that’s how some men are.

  2. Unfortunately this happens a lot, the things is the DWP should stop penalise people who quit work go on benefits and carry on doing this. They should say they will stop getting benefit for a period of time, so might discourage a some to stop doing this, its a hard one to police / stop but can be done if the DWP wanted to!
