No money from my ex in 12 years

September 15, 2011

I have been trying to get maintenance payments for 12 and a half years now, but still nothing.

My ex is in a good job and earns a good wage but is quoted in my file (by the csa) as saying, when my child was 2 years old, that he was never going to pay a penny, ever. Despite this quote being read out to me on 2 separate occasions i am still no nearer to getting the money i am owed.

In frustration i contacted my local mp and asked for his help. All he did was send a copy of my letter on to the csa so that they could investigate themselves.

Today i received a letter from the csa saying that my complaint was unfounded because if an absent parent is determined not to pay it takes time to get around to taking them to court to force them to pay what is owed. Is it just me that thinks that having to wait over 12 years for a payment is too long? Am i being unreasonable in thinking that something should have been done about his non-payments a long time before now?

Not only are the csa incompetent but they refuse to take the blame for their inadequacies. In 12 years i have never had one apology from anyone who works for the agency, the nearest a got to one was one worker telling me last march that my ex should have been taken to court 10 years ago, but just wasn’t.

No wonder people have such a low opinion of them. In any other country this sort of incompetence wouldn’t be tolerated.
