National class action against the Child Support Agency on the cards
I’ve been told i have to pay £13,000 in back pay to my ex partner, the claim started in 2008. After contact with my ex partner regarding the claim it was mutually agreed that she would contact the CSA to drop the claim.After that day i heard nothing from the CSA so i took it for granted that it was all sorted, 4 years later the case reappeared, telling me how much i was to pay and also i was liable for arrears.
My ex partner has never had contact with the CSA in the 4 years of her saying that the case was closed. Surely if she had the case open she would have at least once called to say that she had not recieved any money from them.This is a very unfair method of calculating how much you have to pay. The CSA are now demanding off me £511 per month, my take home pay per month is currently £900. How am i expected to pay my mortgage,council tax and utility bills with money i have left?
The CSA has no mercy as to how much damage they inflict on peoples lifes, fair enough that there are certain cases where absent parents wont pay but they should be the ones that the CSA target.If an absent parent offers payment they should at least be given the chance to prove that they will pay up.I would like to know how our government has managed to change English law to allow the CSA to opperate such an organisation.
It’s like dealing with a communistic state dealing with the CSA.They dictate how much you are paying out of your wages regardless of how much money you will be left with.I cant imagine how much it must cost the tax payer to fund the CSA. Why cant non resident parents be given the chance to support their children without a government body having a say. The main reason for this intervention is a fund raiser for the government i would imagine.
Here’s my theory, I’m convinced that one day someone will manage to prove that the CSA is acting illegally, this in turn could see a huge shake up for the country. You’ve seen all the ads for compensation payouts, I’ve heard of one for compulsery selling of a property to fund elderly care, very understandable that you should fund your own care if you can afford it, however someone with a voice must have decided to take the government to task over their dictatorship ways. Can anyone imagine just how much it would cost this country to pay out compensation to all the people affected by the CSA? The banks put aside 3 billion pounds for miss selling insurance to customers. Peanuts to what it would cost the government to sort that mess out.
This could very well happen, who knows when but if it does, bearing in mind that there are 66 million people in this country, it’s one hell of a burden on the tax payer.

I hope that there is a class action or a significant ruling to open the floodgates for mass claims.
I’m looking forward to sticking the boot into this lot, and with any luck some of the hierarchy will go to jail.
I have provided for, and want to continue to provide for my children as adults, what I don’t need is to be told what to do by this incompetent shower, who have in the words of my M.P. ” caused me huge embarrassment and profound and unecessary stress”.
I hope some day that they will pay for the way that they have treated me!
I have always paid by voluntary DEO so CSA have full control of my salary and case.Had a similar issue where they came up with arrears from nowhere, was forced into debt as a result, contact MP and ICE, mine has arranged a meeting with the minister to discuss my case. Since knowing this recieved £1100 refund and expecting a lot more the closer they look at my case. If parent with care does not want the money collecting, They have to stop collecting arrears. The CSA core principle is to advise parents of all options, if they did not advise you of this at the start you can ask for a full refund of arrears paid if PWC is onside. look closely at the legislation they quote and you will find something there to support your case always, key one for me is maladministration, where it states no-one should suffer hardship as a result of maladministration, yet looking on here it happens all the time through no fault of anyone but the CSA.
It is about time something was done with this Agency. It is horrendous the way they treat nrp’s and their 2nd families. Like yourself, my partner was earning £1,000 per month and the CSA were taking £400 each month. We had nursery fees, debts, mortgage etc. to pay.

well , i have this big issue with csa they sent me a letter telling how i should pay then they turn around order my work to pay them £578 for june and left me out of pocket can even pay my rent i had to borrow money so i could pay my rent ,month of july they took £612 again put me out so i got on the phone and they telling a load of crap . i phone every other week and no one can tell me what i need to know so i think there are a waste of time the goverment should ger rid of it and send those people to do proper work like everyone else , so right now am not happy . they told me what they suppose to get and they taking more than that so what right have we got with our money. is there anyone in that department can sort out all these mess .
CSA are the biggest bunch of low life cretinous scum to shuffle the face of the planet. I am an NPR and until 3 odd years ago I had a brilliant relationship with my children from a past relationship. the csa tried to get money out of me that I didn’t owe and I refused to be bullied by them. They took me to court to get the money, however they didn’t actually inform me of the court date, so obviously I was unable to attend. due to my absence the judge ruled in there favour. when I got wind of this I contacted a solicitor who applied to have the case re-heard so I could present my case. guess what they informed my solicitor of the court date a couple of hours after the case got heard. the solicitor again applied to have the case re-heard, this time we found out on a Monday lunch time he case was to be heard on that same thursday. when I turned up proof of what I was saying in hand the judge refused to look at the evidence and said tough shit mate I already made a ruling on this. the CSA are now attempting to evict me and my 4 year old for money I can prove I don’t owe! what’s more the CSA advised the pwc to with hold contact of my children to put pressure on me to pay. they also took the mothers word that I was earning more money than I had admitted and had me re-assessed 3 times in a 12 month period, the CSA had had all payslips and accessed my tax records and as a result made the same assessment all 3 times. Never in my existence have I ever come across such an unorthodox, thieving, lying, nazi group of scum!!!!!!! To make it worse a member of CSA staff was on a forum bragging about the fact that she had earlier that week evicted an NPR frm his home. Their moto is tackling child poverty, my fucking arse, creating more like. Fathers are not cash cows and children need fathers, but the CSA seem hell bent on driving a wedge between Fathers (not exclusively) and children.
I have a parental responsibility for my children, I have no problem there financially or otherwise, but he CSA has done nothing but harm in majority of cases, get fucking shot of the useless tossers ASAP! parents should have 50/50 responsibility for there children………. I’m gona end here as you got me started and if I don’t we may be here for some time
To all those commenting on this thread, please read my blog – “csa is a sham and they set out to deceive”, and subsequent comment. I agree with you all, the csa needs to be taken to court but there should be a co ordinated response. Please count me in and good luck to all of you.
PS The uk doesn’t allow ‘class action’ lawsuits to the best of my knowledge, its an american judicial tool. You can however have a ‘joinder’ action or even look at a human rights approach.
