My sister’s father pays nothing so we go without

June 12, 2012

I am 15 years old. My 5 year old sister Kitty Mae has a different father to me. His name is Mark Atkins and is currently working in London.

Ever since Kitty was born he has never contributed to kitty’s upbringing, despite being in work for 5 years now he has told the CSA that he has been unable to work and is paying £1.50, of which one installment has been payed in her life which has meant that the rest of us have had to go without simply to feed us all.

To be honest I think it is disgusting that he can get away with such blatent disregard of the rules set out. We can not afford to carry on living like this, the lack of money means that kitty,-(together with my older sister Olivia, younger brother Fabian and I) is living a poorer quality of live and not enjoying the small treats that a vibrant minded girl her age should be, due to the fact that my own father refuses to pay his depicted CSA payments along with her father, who refuses to pay any.

Although my mother has tried to contact you about it, you have said that there is nothing you can do- that it is up to him to approach you when he is ‘in work’-a hilarious prospect.. It says it all really, that people are not willing to pull their fingers out and actually doing something to aid this ever worsening situation.

I will be taking this further if I cam not contacted with an Immediate solution. I am tired of Being pushed aside. Four children’s welfare is at stake here.

Firstly yes I agree with you why cant the NRP pay for the upkeep for their children.(though more NRP’s are paying far too much)Secondly is the PWC actually getting the correct benefits she is intitled to.If there are the 4 children your mum will be getting child benefit, which will be over £50.00 per week, next she should be claiming child tax credits, housing benefit ,poll tax reduction and either JSA,income support or working tax credits.Your mother is the only one who can sort this mess out,get her to write, not ring the CSA again and get in touch with your MP.Sorry i cant help you more, but you have not given much information,ie,does your mum work, does she have a partner living with her, does the NRP have other children and a partner, all counts to how much the fathers pay .

    Tabi,

Non resident parents (NRP) have a legal obligation to contribute towards their children.

If your mum has open case(s) through the CSA SHE can request a reassessment at any time. She should inform them the NRP is in employment, if he refuses to supply his earnings info to the agency can contact HMRC and find out.

Do you think it is wise to give the full names of children (5 and 15) and their father’s name and where he works on an open website?

  • Where he works is given as ‘London’ – that’s fairly broad, narrows it down to 7.5 million. Many people mention their names and their children’s names on this site.

We take out DOBs and addresses when we see them.
