My husband’s ex is claiming money she’s not entitled to

my husband has been paying for his daughter all of her life and therre have never been any problems. However my step daughter in now 17 and has given up college and got a part time job. my husband has rang the CSA to try and stop the payments but he has been toldthere is nothing that they can do. So essentially his ex partner is claiming money that she is not entitled to. We have now made several calls to the child benifit agency and the CSA but dont seem to be getting anywhere.

  1. Do you know if your step daughter has signed on with connextions?

If child benefit is in place then csa will only look at this…start being pro active and gather as much evidence as you can and do as Derek suggests….you might find it will be a long drawn out process but if you’re correct then you might be entitled to a refund.

    Good luck

  2. Have to be honest never heard of this dirty trick so Im gonna take a closer look at this new trend.

I will suggest that what you do is vary your income. decrease it by say an hour. what this will do is instigate a new assesment. that assessment can be challenged. also. what this will allow is a chance to refuse to pay by DEO. by putting in an appeal to your local court and explain that until the CSA sort themselves out you shouldnt be paying by DEO

No guarantees on success but it opens the doors

    Good luck

  3. My husband is goin thru the same thing his daugter left her course in feb and moved out of her mother’s home in june ring benefit fraud line and child benefit they sent a letter to school to ask to confirm her hours at 6th form child support have now sent the mother a letter askin to confirm the daughter is still in education and living with her? If she lies then she be in trouble as there is a fraud investigation ongoing so if she ignores the letter her payments stop and we get back what we have overpaid hope that helps
