My ex took my kids and I’m expected to pay CSA – where was my help?
I’m a mum haven’t seen or spoken to my kids after the ex picked them up on 27/10/2011. Ive lost my home cause of csa payments that i could not afford, im now unemployed, i get 71.30 a week.
The csa have just sent me a bill for 1203.28 unpaid child maintenance. Again, can not pay this i’m being threatened with 1,000 fine court and prison , again im losing my home, yet when kids lived with me i never received any help or maintenance from ex or csa please help

My ex bribed my son to go live with him last November so I really feel for you, as if that isn’t bad enough then you start getting nasty phonecalls and threatening letters from those CSA bastards! My son was my life and we did everything together and now I have nothing. I am disabled but manage to work from home part-time otherwise I’d go stir crazy doing nothing. Now the CSA have sent me a bill for £1,000 unpaid maintenance and I am now having a Liability Order served on me with threats to take my possessions – well knock yourselves out as I have nothing!! and ultimately they are threatening a prison sentence!! My 2 boys lived with me for 4 years and I didn’t ask for a single penny from their father as I was too scared of him. He has a £50k pa job, a good pension, nice house, flash car and has just purchased a house in Florida which he intends to move to with his new family and my son!! Like he really needs my money! I struggle to pay all the bills as it is, I also put a roof over our 19 year old sons head who has now managed to get himself a part-time job but doesn’t earn enough for me to ask for housekeeping but he pays what he can. So anyway my dear, YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND I AM LONELY, SCARED AND TOO FRIGHTENED TO ANSWER THE PHONE ANYMORE. On a lighter note, perhaps we will be sharing a prison cell because neither of us are in any position to pay these sums the CSA Bastards are demanding, it may as well be £1 million pounds!! Keep your chin up lady, as I said before, YOU ARE NOT ALONE 🙂

Your words you are one brave woman , this story is common place with the CSA but it normally a man who is the NRP and I have seen your past comments telling men tough shit do you not want to pay for your kids you are a man hater you are a Numpty and for the record I have every sympathy for Carman she should get her data protecton prints to make sure her arrears are corect !
@ Carmen – if you are on JSA contributions based the CSA will asses you as being liable to pay £5 per week and they can ask for a max of £1 per week towards arrears. If you are on JSA income based they can only ask for the £5 regular maintenace – if you can show that you have no savings etc they will not persue you for the arrears until such time as you are back in paid employment.
@ Carmen – when your kids lived with you did you apply via the CSA for child maintenance – if so what was your ex’s situation? Was there an assessment done? Did they manage to collect any maintenance for you? If there was an assessment and nothing was collected are there arrears due to you from your ex?
As you have gathered Carmen, the CSA and its staff are absolutely useless… People like Alice come on here ‘advising’ you what ‘should’ happen but in reality the staff are too stupid to understand the rules let alone apply them…
Alice talks a good story but the staff you actually deal with are useless and will lie to you… Hence the thousands and thousands of complaints they receive each year…

There is Alice giving you advice and rather than telling you to get your data prints and a full breakdown of arrears she asks if your ex is due CSA you couldn’t make it up !

Alice would not suggest getting your data prints as it is helpfull advice to do this.
it just gives csa rules so you know what your up against, it claims.
Yet as the csa edit your file to suit and ICE just believe whatever the csa say.
her comments are little help to anyone and are biased and misleading and it will flatly refuse to answer any straight question that exposes her view of the csa.

They have doctored my data prints but as I keep all my letters and log my phone calls I have proof got my MP involved the CSA have backed off for now !
Perhaps Alice can explain how 2 csa employees have been jailed for fraud recently?

The reason I asked Carmen if there were arrears owed to her from her ex was that if there is there may be scope for off-setting, if this was possible it may lead to her arrears being wiped out.
Alice why are the CSA acting like this? They have her file so should know if any arrears are owed and if any offsetting should be applied but they do not they would rather collect then discuss which causes people problems financially.
Why do the CSA act in this way?
And if arrears do get wiped out at a later date, who picks up the tab for the money overpaid? Oh yes the NRP and tax payer.
How can you justify the CSA spending millions of tax payers money by acting so fraudently?

@ Stuart, this is why the staff never want to leave there, look at the article and see what our money gets spent on, seems while the employees are making people homeless and committing suicide, they are living a lovely life at OUR expense, yes thats right the tax payers pay CSA employees wages!!!!! the arrears would not be paid by the tax payer – they would be off set against each case
if the original NRP owed £2000 and the current NRP owes £1000, if both parties agree the current NRP’s arrears would be offset against the amount outstanding by the original NRP – the original NRP would therefore owe the current NRP £1000.
oh The troll Alice on here again trying to ensure a tight ship being run for her bosses again. Take whatever she say with a pinch of salt…she works for the csa and will just spout legislation

My own mother was entitled to continue to claim CHB when I went to college which was 150 miles away from my home.
Her mum was committing benifit fraud and these type of people are working for the CSA , the lunatics have taken over the asylum !

The bonus scheme, this is a quote from a letter provided to somebody i know about how and why bonuses are paid.
“The Commission operates a bonus structure which awards bonuses annually on a discretionary basis distinguishing between performance against agreed individual objectives. In addition, a one off special bonus may be awarded during the year to recognise exceptional performance relating to a specific piece of work”.

Obtaining property by deception i.e money, is a criminal offence.
contrary to section 15 of the Theft Act 1968.
CSA practices by staff over the years have contravened the law, with made up arrears and enforcement of DEO’s.
There should be a large scale investigation going back years by the Serious fraud Office. This would scare the hell out of these fraudsters at the CSA, and set a precedent for complainants to come forward and obtain restorative justice.
The CSA ‘company’ have made this issue about money, and not children’s welfare!
About time they were exposed, staff and executives arrested, charged, tried, convicted and incarcerated.

Good reply from you that also sums up Melinda Bas. She has no time for the CSA but also an axe to grind with fathers because of her own tails of woe. Most people on this site Melinda encourage and have sympathy for both PWC and NRP whom are getting shafted by these parasites called the Csa. We also want our voices heard on how disgustingly unfair they are and 75% towards the nrp
