My daughter is going to university, will this change anything?

My daughter has just had her 19th birthday and I am not sure if I need to apply to end csa payments to my ex wife. My daughter is going to be attending university in September, does this have any bearing or should I be eligible to stop paying my ex wife as I would prefer to support my daughter in September and give her money directly to help support her through her studies.

Thanks for the help.

Do you also have a phone number for the CSS which deals with applying to end CSS payments?

Thanks very much for your help. Regards. Paul

  1. When you daughter starts attending Uni she will be in advanced education, this means your ex will no longer be entitled to claim Child benefit or Child Support. Her CHB may well remain in payment until Sept 2013 and if so this means she can keep her CSA case open until then

There will be a contact number for your CSA office on the various letters you will have received over the years.

  2. same old, same old Alice……..

bottom line Paul is that if the PWC decides she wants to lie (as many do) and keep the child benefit, you will have to continue paying child maintenance to her and there is NOTHING the CSA will do to help you…

It doesn’t matter that your ex will be committing fraud, what’s important to the CSA is that their stats look good!!

With regards to Alice’s comment about contacting them by telephone…. be careful, the idiots who work for the CSA will lie to you, give you information that is wrong but most of all they will encourage you to keep paying until the matter is resolved….. and that will take until your child is 20 or more (some people are still getting demands 7 and 8 years after they have been ‘advised’ by the idiots at the CSA that their case is closed)….

Communicate with them in writing only, recorded delivery as they will deny you sent it otherwise…… and then make you non-compliant and then set you up with false arrears…. as they have done to thousands and thousands of innocent victims like yourself…

sorry for being so negative…. dealing with idiots at the CSA does that to you…. 🙂

good luck and keep us posted….

  3. If you are a 100 % sure your daughter has started Uni send a letter to the CSA and tell them you are planing to stop payments tell them if the continue to take money of you or harass you you will take them to a small claims court for taking money under false pretences ,I did this as my ex was claiming child benifit fraudulently it took me over a year to sort it out but after getting my MP involved and a second phase complaint my case was closed !

  4. Paul:- If your daughter was in full time non advanced education this year the child benefit will cease at the end of the academic year, unless she is in full time work or in receipt of benefits prior to this date, which is the end of August.
Once child benefit ceases payment entitlement to child maintenance stops and the Child Support Agency case should be closed.
For a qualifying child starting university in September 2013 the child benefit will stop the first Monday of that month.

  5. Ignore Alice & Wilf they both work for the CSA if your daughter is 19 what has she been doing from 16 to 19 ?

  6. Macon:- If a child is going to university it is highly likely that they will be studying for “A” levels between the ages of 16 and 19. It is called non advanced further education.

  7. Wilf

I am giving real case advice my ex was committing benefit fraud the CSA knew this but as she was in recite of child benefit tough shit ,I stopped CSA payment and was threatened with jail, bailiffs and deduction of earnings ,I stood my ground for over a year got my MP involved and threatened the CSA with court with taking money under false pretences . My wages were never arrested and at one stage I was allegedly owe them 3000 quid all I am saying if Paul knows for sure his daughters is at Uni stop paying !

  8. Wilf

I know a dam site more about the CSA rules than the vast majority of those 0845 call centre staff for 8 years these scumbags have been changing rules and stitching NRP up at every turn . Why is it when the adult turns 20 years of age now does the Csa tell you to carry on paying for another 12 weeks until they shut your case down ?

  9. I’m with Macon on this one Wilf… I too think you work for the CSA but that is irrelevant because you do give advice to people and some may find that beneficial but I wish you and Alice would follow your ‘advice’ with facts I.e.

“This is what the CSA rules, legislation, guidance say blah, blah blah…” And then follow it with “however be aware that CSA staff do not follow all the rules and legislation and may KNOWINGLY lie to you, invent fictitious arrears and completely destroy the relationship with you ex and kids.”

This would provide the author with enough information to make a judgement call based all information received, we all know what the CSA ‘should’ be doing and we all know what they are NOT doing…..

  10. If you ask the CSA for there rules and regulations they won’t give you them they have caused families hardship ,pain and destruction for over 20 years and myself for 8 years I can’t wait until all those call centre staff are made redundant from there well payed jobs and are looking for minimum wage call centre jobs !

  11. Macon:- Paul told us his daughter is going to university in September 2013.
You are correct he can stop paying then as per my original post.
There are various booklets available, some on line, which is where I get a lot of information.

  12. Wilf

Don’t patronise me you scumbag I have had 8 years dealing with the CSA and have made it my mission to get as much facts , rules and laws the Csa use to embezzle more money than they should of me !

  13. If a bank stole extra money off yourself every month you would be taking them to court what the difference withe the Csa ?

  14. Calling names means you win the argument?
    Playground tactics very mature?
    You must know best!

  15. Yes you do. Neither of us work for the CSA.
See you have not grown out of named calling yet!

  16. You seem to be from the propaganda division of the CSA always giving the advice those imbeciles on the 0845 numbers do , don’t you have a problem with the CSA if you don’t why are you on this site ? You are a right patronising scumbag , no I have not grown out of name calling to prats who deserve it !

  17. @ Wilf – when you say “neither of us work for the CSA, who are you referring to??

Alice definitely works for the CSA and has admitted it on this website…. she has stated that she doesn’t work in a call center, but she DOES work for the CSA….

  18. Macon:- Seem, would be the operative word.
Show any post where I have recommended using the CSA.
My affairs are private and will remain so.
But through my dealings with the CSA I have had to learn a lot.
I merely seek to to clarify and illustrate as best I am able.
Knowledge is the most important weapon when dealing with monolithic organisations like the CSA.
