Mother changed the children’s names – am I still liable for payments?
Hi ,I am currently paying £500 per month for two kids that I have not seen for ten years, I thought they were in Spain , with there mother and step father , the mother changed the children names ,and married him , am I still liable for payments ?
I have bills to pay and the csa wont contact me back. They also claim that I owe them £16,500 in arrears. I have no idea how they came up with this figure . I am at my wits end, and I am currently working my notice , I know I have to pay for my kids, but the csa have been terrible. Has anyone got any advise.

Yes if she has only changed their names. If the step father has adopted them then no you dont have to pay. You don’t need to give permission to name change if your not in the childs life. Xx
Makes me laugh you not good for your children but yet your money is just a typical woman screwing the system
I would ask csa for your data file and see if these arrears are correct as csa are known to fiddle their figures big time, if there are inconsistencies I would write a letter of complaint and see your mp. The pwc can change the children’s surname if you didn’t have parental responsibility for them and if you did because you’re paying child support would have needed your permission to do so. Pre 2003 unmarried nrps didn’t have automatic parental responsibility even if they’re named on a birth certificate.
