I’ve cancelled the payments to my ex – should I tell the CSA before they get to me?

Quick query really, I ve had an agreement with my ex for the last three years and paid child maintenance every month, at well over what the csa suggests, she has now stopped my access to my children, so I have cancelled her payments.

I have not told her yet as she is only communicating with me through solicitor, I will co-operate with the CSA fully when they contact me, am I doing the right thing or should I tell the csa?

  1. Don’t contact them, they can only screw you over from the first date the make contact. I very much hope you have solid proof of what you’ve paid her.

I have every sympathy for you – I don’t believe you should have to pay your ex if she is restricting contact, the money should go towards your legal fees.

  2. The CSA can only take money from you from the date your ex first contacted them, it CANNOT be back dated to when your children where born. Let your ex make the first move, if like you say you are paying more than the CSA suggest, you have nothing to loose anyway.

  3. Let’s hope she hasn’t contacted them first in the past! They took 14 months to tell us our pwc had contacted them so we made all those extra monthly payments to her which wont count!! We were paying anyway! We have all the bank statements showing the money going from our account to hers but she has to tell the CSA SHE ACCEPTED it as child maintenance which she wouldn’t do. They will believe her of course and you will obviously not get any discount for having the children as she wont even let you see them now!! I think we should have laws against parental alienation like they do in USA …how can this thing happening be in the best interests of the children? You have my sympathy.

  4. @David Y get your facts right, they will only act from the date when they are contacted (by either the PWC or NRP) so, the advice given previously stands. Don’t contact them, let her do the running or, better still come to an arrangement with her outside of the CSA and dont use the Agency that is not fit for purpose at all.

  5. I agree with you Matt
They only start screwing you from the date the claim was opened, so let her do the phoning and hopefully she get a shock when they assess you and it turns out you pay her less? But you don’t tell us what you were paying, what you consider to be over and above what you should pay could turn into a shock for you as well. You may end up paying more unless you are self employed? Then lie to them about your earnings.. I’m sorry but that’s my advise, this vermin make us NRP’s like this because we know they screw us into the ground. If the system was fair, then Nrp,s would not try and deceive the system. Hell ….if I was self employed…I’d make sure I paid my skank ex as little as poss…..yes I said “pay ex” because we all know that’s where the money goes, on the the ex and her partner, clothes, cars, nights out….all wrong and fuck all a Nrp can do about it. For instance, I know my ex is not spending the WHOLE £300 I’m forced to pay her on my daughter every month. She probably sees a small percent of that money, the rest just subsidises her mother her mothers partner and her mothers other daughter, whos father by the way pays fuck all towards towards his daughters upbringing, I subsidise her as well.
    Gonk

  6. She has not contacted the CSA before, I ve already used the CSA calculator, this suggests i should be paying around £270 per month, i ve been giving her £350 pcm.

Thanks for the tips, I ll let her contact them!
