It took CSA 8 months to register my change of circumstances

My son decided to live with me and my daughter stayed with her mother. After a year he decided to go back to his mother. I notified the CSA the day after he moved out. That was in August 2011. Since that time the CSA have continually failed to set up a direct debit from my account so I have had to phone on a monthly basis to make my payments.

Everytime I have called the CSA the ‘advisors’ have given me contradicting information about how much I should pay and how much I ‘owe’. It is now April 2012 (8 months on) and the CSA have finally been able to change my circumstances on their system which has generated an arrears of £1400 which the CSA have told me to pay on top of the £300 I have to pay!

There is no consideration of the fact that I’m in a debt management programme or that my wife is on mayernity leave and not earning. I feel like I’m being punished for a situation I wasn’t even responsible for!

  1. You are being punished for their incompetence, everyone is unfortunately.

Write a letter of complaint and try to keep everything in writing with the Agency, that way they cannot deny anything. Let them know your financial position and that you cannot afford the payments due to their mistakes. I was told that with regard to arrears they will take into account the household income to verify if the household can afford it or not and they only take into account mortgage/rent,. council tax etc. They do not take into account debts, loans, mobile phone bills, sky tv etc.

  2. If you can afford it, send all correspondence to them by recorded delivery, so they can’t deny receiving it.

  3. Join us guys on facebook, csa corruption page…..nrp, pwcs and Nrpps getting together offering great advice
