Is the CSA defunct?

Well where to start I suppose, ok at the beginning. Having fell head over heals in love and discussing the possibilities of children we decided to try. Well we were successful and ended up with two lovely daughters. For some reason my partner decided to make things very difficult, even now I do not understand why. Well needless to add the CSA became involved an assessment was done and I was left with around 100 pounds a week to live on this included apparently enough money to pay my rent ? whilst living in Surrey. I can only think these people where on drugs as it is impossible to get a place in this area for this money, and also I had to buy food, fuel, and pay bills. Well i was to say the least a little pi$%ed of about this and discussed making a mutually agreeable arrangement. This we did and when I called the CSA to discuss it they told me that under NO circumstances were they to allow this to happen.

Well gob smacked or what, I thought this is stupid, not only have I got to pay this money, but she was also making it really difficult for me to see or be with my children. Well to cut a long story short, I moved out of the UK. For the last Eight (8) years I have been living abroad and rather enjoying the life style.

Anyway after Eight (8) years, my ex partner has got in touch with me. Not sure why, but she is telling me that she has a letter from the powers that be at the CSA telling her that the case has been closed ? not sure really what to believe here as i have heard a lot of reports from several sources saying that the CSA is now defunct ? there is still a CSA website and they are still threatening all sorts of unholy godless retribution against all those that who infringe with or disagree with them.

Anyway, enough waffle, I would really like to know what the situation really is as it would be rather nice to try and get to see my children. Thanking you all in advance.

  1. the CSA is still going strong….dont be surprised if they dont sue you for back pay! If you have made contributions privately you may be ok if your ex plays ball otherwise you are screwed! They dont get involved with access you would have to see a solicitor but you will have to fight hard if you have no legal parental responsibilty.
keep on good terms with the ex- the resident parent has all rights and monies from the state and they screw the NRP regardless of finance or comitments.
    good luck!
