Is my partner going to suffer because I do well?
March 22, 2014
My partner and I have been together for almost a year, we live together although we are not married.
He pays for his daughter, the level of support to his ex via the CSA as they dictate as being the amount he needs to pay based on his last years salary. Since then, he now earns about £500 less gross per month, but has not sought to reduce his CSA payments feeling this unfair.
His ex is in a lot of debt, behind on payments in many priority payments and has come to us to help with this, which we’ve offered to do. It’s about £3k’s worth which we’ve offered her a conditional loan over £500 paid so far).
She has now decided she wants more per month on a consistent basis, in addition to the CSA payments and in addition to the loan. She doesn’t work.
My partner and his ex also have a second daughter together, emotionally (he bought her up since she was 6 months old), albeit my partner is not her biological father and his ex is seeking CSA payments for her separately.
As an aside, I have a very, very good job and am keen to understand in these circumstances what my partners ex is entitled to financially from my partner, and/or myself as applicable given he now lives with me. He now actually has more outgoings per month as my house is much, much bigger than his old flat.
Basically, I am concerned that my partners ex is going to start asking for far more money via the CSA, as she perceives her ex to have a better standard of living since he met me – am I vulnerable or not?
Looking forwards to hearing from you.
they wont take your money into consideration and if one of the childrn is not his then he does not have to pay for her but if the mother says to csa it is his they will take her word for it if im honest if he is earning less then they should recaculate the maintenance fair enpugh you want to help her with her debta etc but you need to be able to live too
YOU do not o her a thing and do not have to pay CSA they well not go after you at all . if his ex is in dent i would wanna know were the money is going to that u give her to help . tell her ot go to C,A for help and not you not fair that she want u to pay for her dent she would not do the some if it was u and no her
They only use your wages if this case was opened prior to 2003
