I’m tired of excuses from my son’s father – what can I do?

Im a 23 year old single mum to a 5 year old boy.his father has only seen him about 3 times out of 9 months and doesnt really pay maintenance for his own son.

Out of respect i have said 30 quid a week cause he was struggling and now he as a job and stil doesnt pay it the last time i got money was 80 quid in june and that was for the 2 and half weeks of february he still owes maintenance

im abit tired of the excuses he is giving so im coming to you guys for help please tell me you can help me

    You need to arrange to have a proper sit down and write out what it actually costs you to raise your son. See about putting a little aside for emergencies and treats. See if you agree on a reasonable figure. £30 sounds like too much for someone without a job which might be why he couldn’t pay it. £80 sounds like more than you need because if both parents contributed that much it’d be £160 you think your spending on that child! I’m sure even with bills and outings it isn’t that much. If you want to keep things civil you both have to be realistic.
