I’m at the point of screaming at the CSA
I honestly could scream with the appalling way the Child Support Agency Bolton have dealt with my case. No money for three weeks. You call them and they state they have forgot to release the money.
They never ever ever ever pay me weekly. I have to wait two-four weeks eractic payments. They are absolutely useless. I dont know who to complain to, in order for them to be investigated.
My son has special needs and I keep stressing this to them but they are absolutely terrible. I honestly could cry each week because they never get things right. It costs me a fortune to call them, they always say the same speech, that they have forgot to release the money. Help me please !!

@CSAHell why does this story not surprise me we have got the help of our local mp and believe it or not CSA admitted fault :O xx
If your case is with Bolton then it’s a clerical case. Although people usually assume this means everything is done on paper, they do have an effective computer system, it just requires for some things to be done manually.
Payments can get ‘stuck’ on the systems which is a pain and requires for certain caseworkers to have to authorise and release payments manually. Generally the timescale used to be up to 5 working days from the date the payment is recognised as stuck which can be up to a number of months from the receipt date!
Depending on the system itself, there’s now a 24hr release timescale for any stuck payments or any payment on the clerical system with a 3-5 day time frame for it to then reach your bank account. If its happening regularly, have you asked them why this is?
If its down to an incorrect reference number the release can take up to 21 working days (again – ridiculous!) but this is down to the person submitting the payment, not necessarily the agency.
Ask for an advisor or caseworker to monitor the payments for you and request them if they get stuck regularly without any specific reason to try and save you some money on the phone bills.
Just for clarification, Ann, how do payments “get stuck” on an “effective” computer system?
I am so angry and frustrated with the csa I am typing this AS I speak to a case worker with tears of frustration rolling down my face……….My payments were debited to my account regularly every week until about 1 year ago…..then the trickle of sporadic payments began…..For the past 12 months I have contacted the csa every 2 weeks, to get “payments released” which usually take 2-3 weeks to show in my account…..as you all know the phone calls…from my mobile….as i don’t have a landline, cost a fortune.
I am told EVERY time I call that my case is clerical….my ex husband is paying on the wrong reference number and has not updated the reference number on his bank account……………My argument is….my ex IS paying….the CSA HAVE my money and it is THEIR responsibility to ensure the money reaches me.
I had a patronising advisor who dare tell me ” we tell everyone not to rely on the payments”…..HOW DARE HE!! I told him it was because of their incompetence that I had not received my money……..and went on to tell him I was working full time and had planned my finances arounf weekly payments for 9 YEARS until their incompetency ruled otherwise…………………………I am SICK of the same questions every time I ring…….name….address….d.o.b……blah blah blah…………
I made a complaint 2 weeks ago….. I was told 7 YES 7 payments were released that day…………are they in my account today? NO!!! Phoned again today and the advisor told me those payments were NOT released as I made a complaint and my case was put on hold!!!! WHAT???? I make a complaints about NOT receiving payments so they KEEP over £1000 as punishment????
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!
I now have a “case worker”………..fat use that is…….she STILL could not tell me today when my payments will go through………….how much interest ARE the csa making through these payments which are SO called stuck in the system…..my next stop…..local Mp…..who just happens to be David Cameron….
Will update later…when my case workr calls me back within 1 WEEK for an update.
