I was paying for my ex’s son but he’s not biologically mine – where do I stand with this?

my name is michael allison i have a 6 year old son with my ex partner which i split from in may 2012.

i also looked after her son who is now 15 years old has my own, since we split i have been paying maintence for both kids even thru i was never married to her or anything.

my ex partner is now saying cos i have started to pay for him i am not able to stop so was wondering where i stand with this

  1. I believe your ex is mistaken, and maybe she should try and pursue the child’s father instead. Have you formally adopted the child at all?

  2. Your ex is wrong… You don’t have to pay for him, you only have to pay for your biological child (unless the child is adopted or you have a written agreement through court proceedings).

    Do you have a private arrangement or through CSA? The CSA calculator on this website should give you an idea of what should be paid…

  3. They cannot make you pay for a child/ten that are not yours, tell your ex to chase the children’s biological fathers and go to work to support her and her offspring they are not your responsibility if they are not your kids
