I really am at the end of my tether with the CSA and it is starting to make me ill

I split with my ex 5 years ago because of her constant affairs, for a couple of years we still had a joint bank account and I paid a voluntary sum each month which we had agreed on. after a messy divorce I was advised to use the CSA and close the joint accont which I did.I was given a payment schedule and things were fine for about a year. I was then taken ill and had to give up my job (I had a tumor in my groin and had my lymph removed), this left me unable to continue with my employment and had to seek a less well paid job. I informed the CSA and an adjustment was made I continued to pay through direct debit.

Six months later, the CSA contacted me and said that after a review of my case I was now over a £1000 in arrears (it seems the person who had carried out the review was no longer with them and had made many such mistakes!)They said that I should pay off the arrears in three monthly amounts of around £400, on top of my regular monthly payments. I told them this was impossible and that they would have to spread the arrears over a number of months I tried to negotiate with them but they were adamant that it had to be at least £10 per week extra. As anyone who has dealt with the CSA will be aware to get to this point I had spent over 10 hours in phonecalls and met a variety of staff, some helpful some downright rude. I thought I had got to the end of the saga when today I realised they had taken over £6o extra in arrears instead of the agreed £40. I telephoned but was met with the usual indifference.I really am at the end of my teather with this and it is starting to make me ill. They did send me a letter of appology and a one off payment of £60 to cover the inconvienience. In no way does this compensate for the trouble they have caused

  1. Write a complaints letter outlining your problems with the CSA to the Parliamentary ombudsmans office, in London.

The CSA are a run for profit company. Their executives and our M.P.’s are stakeholders in the company.

We are all being scammed by the illusion known as the CSA. It’s a money laundering scheme, that recycles benefits!
