I pay ex for one child but ex refuses to pay me for two!

I have 16 year old twins and left my husband two years ago. My daughter decided to stay living with her father which is fine and I see her a lot etc. My ex decided to claim against me due to the fact that he is greedy and I earn more than him.

To cut a very long and painful story short the result is that after paying him CSA plus the arrears that grew due to their inability to count, my son and I are struggling whilst my ex thrives. It would be financially better for my son to live with his father which is never going to happen but is the reality.

The CSA does not know how to deal with these cases at all. In my frustration I then took a claim against my ex to at least retrieve some money for my son, guess what they have still not got a penny from him since Oct 2011. It is disgusting that this is the situation that the law allows, I am penalised as I earn more but the outcome is that I am financially worse off than him.

I should just give up work and go on benefits.

  1. Speak to your mp…I never get this when you have a child each! Make a complaint via recorded letter and say you will be seeing your mp. Good luck.

  2. Thanks Jay I will. The problem just seems to get worse. They have finalised my assessment now and due to their incompetency I owe 2,800. They have asked for a ‘significant’ payment towards that yet by my reckoning I am owed around 1,100 from my ex for my son.Which they say they cannot take off of my arrears yet also are incapable of collecting it. The situation is ludicrous, this law allows disgruntled ex’s to hit people financially. I explained that I do not have money to pay a significant chunk, I was advised that i could pay via ‘credit card!’. It’s just appalling. They feel my daughter is worth more than my son. Heartbreaking, it damages the parent child relationship in NRP cases.
