I now know why dads quit work and become scroungers

May 14, 2014

Hi

In September 2012 my now ex-wife whilst suffering with postnatal depression left me and made awful accusations about me that prevented me from seeing my son until June 2013.

During these missing months I fought through the Court system to prove my innocence and eventually the Courts / CAFCASS agreed they were false allegations and that she was the one with psychological problems.

Within days of ex walking out I had CSA chasing me. I filled in all the paperwork for fear they were after me and sent it off.

As a Director in my company I am paid a salary and dividend payments. Being the honest person that I am I put all this info on the CSA paperwork.

CSA then told me ex hadn’t claimed for my dividend and they’d inform her to claim for it. My first experience of CSA helping the PWC when I thought, had I withheld that info they’d have been down on me like a ton of bricks!

Needless to say, ex was obviously told this and salary and dividend payments were included in my maintenance fee.

Due to the judicial process, the ex controlled things and still does to this date, whereby I have to travel 25 miles 8 times a month to pick little one up.

I was aware I could have these expenses taken into account on my payments, after all it’s costing £50 per month in fuel to do these journeys.

The CSA said fill in a variation report and we’ll review. Great I thought so in January the paperwork arrives, I complete and send back, receive acknowledgement from CSA that it’s been received and wait…. And wait… And wait.

I spoke with them at the end of April and was reliably informed “we have a 6 month backlog” and there’s nothing they can do until it’s reviewed.

When I asked “what’s the situation when you decide that maybe I’m owed money and say it’s £500, what happens? Do I get a lump sum payment repaid to me?

They responded “No, the agency doesn’t hold monies to refund these monies. We’ll review the case and reduce your payments. However only if the child doesn’t suffer from the reduction in monies”.

I was fuming. When CSA first contacted me they told me that I had to sign the paperwork because the longer it took to return it, the bigger the amount owed to PWC would be and that would be deducted in a lump sum!

Why is it that when PWC wants money CSA work as quickly as possible, yet when NRP applies there’s a massive delay?

The worst thing about my case is that ex only allows me to see little one on a Friday (9-4) as per a Court Order. Therefore I work only 4 days a week and am paid accordingly.

The monies lost over a month for working 4 days is roughly what I pay CSA, so I’m struggling to afford to live (told CSA this) and really need this refunded money / reduced payments ASAP.

I told the CSA that it’s very unfair that everyone favours the Mum rather than help Dads. It’s the same through the Court system and it makes me want to give up because the stress is too much.

PWC keeps putting obstacles in the way to prevent more contact / overnight stays and now I know why. CSA told her if that happens her money reduces further.

I honestly now know why Dads quit work and become scroungers to avoid the CSAHell.

I also have a private pension and the CSA weren’t very forthcoming as to whether because I have this and make these payments, it would reduce my payment. I’m scared to give them all the details of my pension incase it sees my payments increase.

Please help / advise as I’m at the end of my tether.

Thanks in advance.
