I have to work 50 hours to pay for my son while my ex works part time with tax credits

My Case was being re-assessed which led to me owing almost £1,000 in arrears and the regular payment being increased from £120 per month to £167 per month. I have just found out the CSA have filed a deduction of earnings to take £250 per month out of my wages until me debt is cleared. can i do anything to stop this?

I am happy to provide for my son but dont see why she should work part time getting subsidized by me and tax credits and being able to see my son for a larger period while i work 50 hour weeks and only get to see my sone for 1 day every 2 weeks. Which is all she will agree too. I dont even have the money to take her to court to be able to see him more. 🙁 any help please.

  1. Go to speak with your MP, the CSA are bullies and will lie to you and invent false arrears so tha they can meet their targets and get a bonus!!!

You should request your data files as they will give you a factual breakdown, including the CSA tampering with your details!!

  2. Sally, can i ask what Data files are?, what they consist of and where do you request them?

  3. Hi there Jason i’ll answer that for you,the data files are basically the csa case on you which consist of what letters they have sent you(supposingly),how they have come to assesment, arrears, well everything regarding your case,it costs you £10 and can upto 40 days but well worth the money and if you do request them send them by postal order. The address for this is

    CSA DATA PROTECTION UNIT
    PO BOX 26
    GATESHEAD
    NE92 1DB

i have a cracker of a draft letter but don’t know how to draft it to here.

  4. Was mean’t to say that it can take upto 40 days to receive your files.

  5. You need to contact the CSA Data protection unit and pay £10 and they will send you all the info including the letters previously sent telling you how much you should pay & when..

You should then request an up to date breakdown of all your payments from the CSA which will almost definitely inlcude a lot of ‘errors’ that will not match up with the details you have received from the Data protection unit….
