I have to video my child to prove to CSA he stays with me

September 6, 2012

My dealings with the csa have never been good, my ex just makes a phone call, and im inundated with letters (brown envelopes) and phone calls.

Up until Feb 2011 I was paying £240 per month, my ex then moved further away with her new partner, but as my sons school is local to me, he was staying over 3 times per week, i applied for shared custody, and my payments went down to £40 per month, which is fair as i meet all his costs when he is with me, however my ex complained and lied to the csa about him staying over, I was reassessed and was hit with £520 per month!!! the employee dealing with my case was totally unsympathetic and abrupt, even terminating phone calls, and basically calling me a liar and believing my ex wife purely based on what she tells them…

I am appealing and the only way I can prove he stays 3 times is to video record him going to bed, getting the time/date off the sky and then videoing him the next morning, sad but true that I am reduced to this by a government agency set up to help and support children, and to track down parents who don’t pay, they now just penalise honest hard working people who have always paid and looked after their children.

I have considered leaving my job in previous dealings with the csa, but have always gathered strength by getting my mp involved, citizens advice bureau, or go on to their website and read up on all the rules and regs that they are bound by, if you find something make a note, log it gather your thoughts, make phone calls, send letters and get someone to listen….

The csa should be disbanded and mediation should be the norm, not as it is now a meal ticket for bitter and twisted ex partners!!

It is disgraceful the way nrp are treated.

CSA have lost track of what they were set out to do and now appear to be only interested in collection rates by targeting nrp’s who already pay.

Good luck with your next fight

    Great story for the media.
As Carol rightly says:- (The) CSA have lost track of what they were set out to do and now appear to be only interested in collection rates by targeting nrp’s who already pay.’

You will next receive letters for phantom arrears.

Totally agree with everything you say. Ive been in the CSA system with two cases since it was first set up and despite being fully compliant they have made my life hell, making up ficticious arrears and threatening me with baliffs/liability order.
No doubt thats because I was in a professional PAYE occupation where they could walk all over me. Easy money for them to justify their existence.
Hound the CSA complaints section with letters of complaint and see your MP again and keep making appoinments until he/she takes positive action on your behalf.
    Best of luck !
