I feel guilty even though I’m proud of how my son turned out

Hi my my eldest is 17 and he is thriving at colledge full time construction im very proud.

Im pretty guilty as never expected money from his father at all, iv enjoyed provided but perhaps iv done wrong as my son has had very little and if he had the support he could have more self esteme and self worth.

Can i claim now he has turned 17 ? Or even claim back dated? Please let me know thankyou .

  1. If you have done ok up until now why now do you want money? If you’re claiming child benefit then yes you can put a claim in but I’m pretty sure new claims falls under the maintenance option scheme where you come to a private agreement with your ex, if no agreement can be made then a percentage taken if you still go ahead with the agency.

If no claim has been lodged before now then no you cannot get any backdated payments.

I’d be more angry that your ex has had no involvement with your son other than the lack of financial aid. Also are you getting all that your entitled to, ie tax credits etc?
