I couldn’t pay because I was ill but now I’m being taken to court
I have been dealing with the c.s.a for 2 years now informing them of every bit of money I have earned and not earned as I was a self-employed security officer. Last year I was diagnosed with a crippling disease and had to give up work (this killed me mentally as I loved hard work).
I informed the c.s.a as normal and thought that was that. Now the good bit, I have been taken to court for non-payment, I get standard sick benefit from the esa (job centre) and they take 5 pounds a week to pay maintenance as agreed. Now the court letter is asking for £1,500 back payment from June last year. So I asked to be seen in my home town instead of Southampton as the letter stated but not budging now I have to spend what pittance I have to travel all the way to Southampton, this is not fair.

That’s absolutely disgusting! Where are Human Rights in all this? Life is hard enough without these evil bastards totally destroying perfectly decent people’s lives. I really feel for you and I know it doesn’t help, but you are definitely not alone.
If you are a benefit claimant, you cannot be expected to pay more than £5 a week. You must appeal asap. Do so in writing, never ever deal with csa over telephone. You need all the documentation you can gather as proof of proceedings to cover your back. Best wishes.
