Your employer must leave you with 60% of your net income as protected earnings, this will be detailed on the DEO as a £’s figure and will be based on the average net income held on the system. Check that the CSA have your current income. If your income has dropped by 5% or more since the last calculation you need to ask for a re-assessment.
You can also ask to re-negotiate the amount being taken via DEO – this will only be possible if the debt can be recovered within 24 months at a lower rate.
The CSA will tell you that they leave 60% of your wages ‘to spend as you wish’. Very generous of them, especially when it wont cover your bills.
