How does CSA calculate what my payments should be?

I have recently parted from my girlfriend with whom I have a 2 year old boy with. I have a 6 year old boy from another relationship too, so how does the CSA calculate this please so I can work out fairly what to pay both. Surely it can’t be 15 – 20% for both??

  1. Under CMS rules 16% of your gross income equally divided between the two assuming you have no further children in your household or entitlement to shared care allowances.
Under the old systems it’s 20% of net income.
