Having to go through ombudsman due to CSA mistake

Bit of background- Split with my ex when my daughter was 2 months and since he’s not bothered much with seeing her.

Been with the CSA since 2010 now, at the start it was semi OK. I then cancelled it after my ex asked me to as he would give me cash in hand (£20 a week, less than half the CSA awarded me but easier than waiting on them every week).

Fast forward a few months, had received £20 in pound coins and nothing more so decided to call CSA again. This was april(ish) 2013. Called them back in September and they hadn’t moved my claim on at all so promised to do so over the week. And so it began…

By November 2013 they had decided he would pay of his own accord at £100 a week. He paid one instalment of £40 and so they decided they had to put a deduction of earnings in place. So, three payments of £100 were collected by February 2014 and sent off to my bank account.

In the few years I hadnt used them my bank details had changed, but no1 asked if they had changed. So here’s me waiting on £300 to pay my gran back the money I had loaned the previous month for my insurance renewal. Nothing turned up. Blah blah…

Worked out they had the wrong details for me (bank account has been closed since 2012 with a nil balance), they told me the bank had my payment, bank said they don’t, asked CSA to do a bacs trace and recall and have received the outcome of neither. Bank have been mega helpful, providing me with statements of my closed account showing no transactions and suggested I go to the om buds man which I am doing.

Has anyone else done this? Has anyone had any luck?

I want the £340, but would also be open to some sort of compensation even if it is just a promise of better treatment in future.

PS, in the time it took for them to process everything arrears of £1700-£2000 built up. Not my fault and yet I am down that much to which my ex is allowed to pay as little as £10 a week now to clear.

PPS, I have been receiving payments regularly for 3/weeks now. Let’s see how long this will last.

  1. Why would you rely on somebody else asking if your bank details had changed.
You knew you had changed your bank details it, therefore, was your responsibility to volunteer the information that your bank details had changed.
Why should the public purse recompense you for your lack of common sense.

  2. After me questioning it they were able to provide my current bank details so that’s not the issuse I need resolving and I certainly don’t need your input if you’re going to be like that. Was simply asking if anyone had been through the complaints process, no need to get pety.
