Financial ruin because of CSA and money pinching EX
I have been happily paying £198 per month to the CSA to support my child and have been looking forward to her reaching 16 as this has put a lot of financial pressure on my new life, supporting a new family of 2 children.
I had changed my job which increased my wage by approx £1500 per year, my ex partner found out about this and notified the CSA, they assessed me again and requested £600 per month for 1 child. After a long battle with them we agreed to disagree on a figure of £315 p/month although all my housing cost have also gone up.
Anyway my point my daughter had turned 16 and left school, wow I thought time to get my life back on track, I called the CSA to see about my payments stopping as she had left fulltime education and now working with her mother, only to be told that the law had changed in june 2011 if she is still claiming she is entitled to claim up to the age of 19 years (YES 19 years).
I have challenged the CSA again and have asked to be reassessed as I feel my payment are to high, I have now been informed that they have only allowed me housing cost of interest only mortgage, my mortgage company will not allow me to take interest payment only, so at the age of 44 I’ve had to take my mortgage over another 25 years to free up some cash to support my family.
How is right the absent parent gets no life yet the other party gets it all, the Government have so much to answer for.

I think you have been lied to, if the child leaves full education and started work the pwc is no longer entitled to child benefit, my advice is to ring the child benefit fraud hotline, do this asap and write a letter of complaint to the csa with the name of the case worker….good luck.
two children one age 7 one14 at the time asked to make my own amount payments
i refused and asked for proper assement which after three months wait was £154 a month i had the money stopped out of pay as post office wanted £1 per transaction
all payments made on time and in full
after two years eldist child came to live with me not in education or able to claim benifits until 18….rang csa to have payments havled ..but was told ,no, payments would remain the same
i later found out last year payments should have stopped now too late to claim back money
strong suggestion ….appeal all and ask for interview they dont like people in the face
ps when eldist was 18 she got her own flat ..councel then asked for c/tax from me for her living in my house and me not telling she was there…asked if children pay c/tax …informed councel that the c/tax was with the csa as i still pay for 2 children
Yes it is truly disgusting and your EX is playing the punishment game after how many years! AGAIN another case of a “good, hardworking NRP” receiving more lies and a financial beating, if they could increase payments nwo to 25 years they would.
It suits them – the CSA to scr*w more money out of you. Because like you we’ve all been paying and yet get nothing in return! NO support, No Access rights, No legal aid, No Tax benefits.
