Father abandoned his child to live the high life abroad

My ex-partner Jeffrey Mearns left me and my daughter in Jan 2007 and did not pay any maintenance at all until he was forced to do so by the CSA on 5th Aug 2009.Even then he only paid £5 p/w which in fact did not help with the costs of bringing up my daughter at all and the payments ceased on Oct 13th 2010.

I contacted the CSA by phone and by Email as it is the principal of the matter that really angers me. This man abandoned his child and to my knowledge lived the high-life in Greece?

I have no knowledge of his whereabouts but I did supply you with details of his parents address etc and yet I have had no reply from you at all.I would very much appreciate an explaination for this as I am not the one in the wrong.

Yours faithfully

  1. i dont blame all the absent dads as the goverment has encouraged a lot of women to sit at home with more in their pockets than the dads who is out working for a living can some someone explain how a baby can take £70 a week and the father has still to provide for that bay as well in his own home does not make sense but greed this is from a grandmother who has already brought her children up with out that amount of money and i had three greed greed greed

  2. If someone is living abroad the CSA are not normally involved.

I realise that there is an obligation for non resident parents to pay maintenance but what I think alot of parents with care do not think of is what happens once the child is 16 or leaves non advanced full time education. Just now parents with care get their salary (if they work), benefits such as tax credits, child benefit, housing and council tax benefit if they do not work but one day parents with care will only their own income to look after themselves. I know a few people who have fell into the trap and once their child is 16 all the benefits stop. Maybe something for people to bear in mind. Will they kick their child out once they are no longer receiving these payments?

  3. I do not blame your ex in the slightest. I am currently getting screwed for 750 pounds per month for ref maintenance and arrears. I have a 2nd family to provide for and because the CSA do what the fck they want, I am in arrears with rent and facing eviction…. Called CSA… The advice was “maybe you.should consider moving out so that your family can claim benefits and keep the home”. The CSA and their total disregard for fairness have made me grudge every single penny I pay for my child. If I could I’d be off and pay absolutely nothing. Alas I’m stuck here subsidising my ex’s lavish lifestyle while my family live in poverty facing eviction.
