Ex-partner works cash in hand – what can I do?

Hi I am writing to find out if you can do anything to my expartner my babys dad he works full time as a removal man but is cash in hand to stop the tax man getting him. He doesn’t help out regualy we arranged every fortnight when he gets paid hed give me 50pound for our soon which from his earnings of 800 maybe 900 hundred pounds isn’t a lot but I compermised. He is now saying he not giving mee nothing I buy my soon everyting and think as its his son to both parents should put in .

Can you klet me know if you can help I know were he works and when thanks I just think there should be something you can do he ows tax man a lot 2000 or more

  1. Hi you can call the CSA and if you tell them exactly how much you think he’s earning, they will contact him and do the necessary checks. If nothing comes back from Inland Revenue and your ex partner does not respond they will be able to use the information you have provided to base the calculation on. For example if you say he is earning about £300 a week… You need to be able to back this up – like he has a website advertising jobs for £xx amount and he does this many per week etc. Ring them and report it… Alternatively they will be able to use something known as EET – estimation of earnings. This looks at the national average earnings for that job type.
